Now to see if CBP will let me cross the border with mad pow disease and no other plans than to sleep in the back of my car...

t.odd, you hear something about them opening the alpine this weekend? I'd have thought with a rain layer to the peak, new snow and this wind they'd be closed for a bit while that settles out..... What's the word your way?

Anyone know what terrain they are planning on opening around Peak? I can't imagine lower west bowl/Hwy-86 area is skiable after the rain. Might just go check out Flute area on Saturday and avoid the crowds.

Anyone have any Duffey snowpack data? They are working on the road washout, looks like that could take time.

Thats a large natural avy in Whistler Bowl, especially a day after bombing it. Wonder how Patrol felt seeing that this morning, maybe the fact that there was no hiking to the alpine was indicitive.
Bring on the masses to the alpine, marketing says we need some skier compaction!!!

every hard core bro with a pair skins was out there lapping the sun fuked 'pow'. Patrol wasn't too stoked the 'product' was getting defiled a day before the grand opening.

I don't think patrol really cares one way or the other, as long as you aren't getting in their way and respecting closures when they're doing control work

Yeh, no one really cares. Marketing doesn't care as they aren't selling reality, the people who are on first chair probably have been hiking into it for weeks, and the punters who arrive at 10:00 never see powder anyways.

The patroller we bumped into actually requested us to keep our tracks 'classy' to protect the pow for Saturday's opening.
