If anyone is looking for lodging for President's week, I know of a timeshare on Ski Run Blvd in South Lake Tahoe. The 'owners' have called off their trip because they are going to be moving that week instead. 1BR with pull out couch (sleeps 4) - 2/13 to 2/20 - $260. If no one grabs it, I'll be there instead (if we get some snow that is), at a much lower cost to me. So actually just trying to make this work for some friends. PM if interested, and I'll get you more details and connected with the owners so they can do a name transfer.

Kirkwood is on full wind hold. Just leaving and winds are knocking chairs into poles.

I've washed the car, I've tuned the MTB, we all have to do what we can.

That being said, I'll be at kirkwood tomorrow until it stops raining + 1 bluebird day. Gotta love being 100% remote. Orange pants, Black jacket, white helmet, green poles. I'm a SLC kid moonlighting at Kirkwood, so if any locals want to show me around the more spicy/sidecountry areas, it would be much appreciated. I like to go fast and jump off shit, usually at the same time...

I am drooling over a possible big day at Squaw. Any interest tomorrow?

    Just curious.

Does anyone really think with the foretasted wind and snow levels that:

    1. Anything but Northstar or lower mountains at other resorts will be open?
    2. That there will be much snow below 7500 - 8500 feet?

I am constantly amused by the commuters who get all giddy with what is a terrible forecast for snow and skiing. I don't want to sound so negative I 'm just being realistic.

Enjoy the drive, wind, and rain!!

This old neg head is probably right. I'm thinking about hiking near Mt Rose or Lassen is the best bet.

If the wind dies down, maybe Mt. Rose or Kirkwood will get decent snow from this. Otherwise, it's just rain and a bunch of wind.

Looks like a weekend of doing stuff around the house, or in the garage.

Exactly. That's why I'm waiting to ski Monday / Tuesday. Not all of us who live around the bay are weather jongs. I probably pay closer attention than if I lived in Tahoe City because getting skunked is a lot more painful after a 2.5 - 3 hour drive.

Watching everything, and will pack the car an drive on Sunday if the kid is not sick and te snow leek is low enough that KW has snow at the base.

Soul, if I go up, I'll have one day while the kiddo is in ski school from about 10-3:30. I can show you some places that you can go quickly off a cliff. In fact, if I choose Tues, I'll likely want to do a few sidelines laps. Will you have skins, or are you looki for easy exits?

I know this is not a typical winter, but no way you deer get me to suit up to ride thigh high wind waves. Glad them locals are getting something though.

Win has lightened a bit at the coast and the rain is now steady.

was windy enough this morning that N* shut the mountain. second time this season.

currently snowing nicely at my abode in Truckee, which is roughly 6300. it's thick and sticking, with about 1/2 inch accumulation in the past 45 mins, give or take.

    wind had died down considerably.

will see what the rest of today and tonight bring, but at the moment this is exceeding any expectations the forecasters gave out...

I don't want to overreact or unreasonably get anybody's expectations up, but it's snowing at lake level right now. It's heavy and it's not sticking yet, but it's white.
