What if you get most of that back when you sell?

When I sold my last place, in a soft market. The buyer told me he bought my place, because it was move in ready.

My wife had remodeled the kitchen and master bath eight years prior.

Eight years of peace was easily worth more than the total remodel.

Yeah - if the spouse isn't on board, it could likely be rough. That said - you know as well as I that you never get "most" of any renovation back at sale.

I've seen a similar setup for a baby changing station and thought it was genius.

I don't think my wife would allow it in the kitchen though. I could probably swing it in the a baby room under the premise we would just have to buy something else to throw/give away otherwise.

I vote brilliant. If you took the Husky badge off most people would have no idea what it is.

Evidently it's a granite tile for hot stuff. Came up on a local yard sale FB page. Here's the description and more pics. Asking $350:

This thing is awesome but since painting the kitchen, it just doesn't match anymore. All drawers are easy open and close, have stationary (will not slide around) liners, and hold a ton of stuff. We recessed a granite tile into the top so you can easily and safely set a hot pot down without worry. This toolbox has locking caster wheels and a clean black paint job. Top organizer can be included in the sale if you like. 46"x18"x36"

i think it's a cool idea but considering you can buy a new one that's a little bigger (46x24) brand new for $400 at Home Depot I'd say they want too much for it. No stainless trim on this one but that can't add much: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-46...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

It’s basically on a gun rack on the wall in the adjacent dining room but that doesn’t give any context to its size.

And yeah, it actually holds a shit ton of peppercorn. Took some doing to procure it and was ready to be disappointed if it only held a little pepper but that thing is basically all full.

I can pepper your salad from across the room.

All those color cards are too dark in my view. I was picking colors in that strain and ended up throwing them out and starting over. I ended up with this one fwiw

I don't think the price is of the island is too bad. The inset of the granite into the wood looks very clean. That is not that easy to do for the DIYer.

The biggest pepper shaker I've ever seen is in the dining room of the Alta Peruvian.

Meh far left lower isn't horrible if you're into blue. Could be like a Looney bin though.

I agree that they are all too dark except maybe the far left lower. If the whole living room was any of those colors it may drive me crazy. Since we are quarantined here, my wife is hatching new projects, the details of which are super half baked.
