The anomalous heat wave in the PNW would have happened without climate change. It’s just 2F warmer as Cliff Mass pointed out in his blog. We’re fucked, but not because of the forecasts.

So scary! Sending cool thoughts to the PNW mangs from incredibly humid but not super warm Iowa. We went about two weeks without a drop of rain and in the last week we've had 4 plus inches at our house. Flash flooding on the other side of town last night. Raining all day. Things are spinning out of control with climate.

    Per Seattle Times:
The average high temperature at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for June 26 is 73 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The airport reached that temperature today at 7:30 a.m.

Glad I got my exercising done early this morning.

It was 76 at my house in n Wenatchee at 0500 this am. Not unprecedented but this is just the start. Hottest I can remember here was 108, it’s been more than 10 years ago iirc.

We were breaking records last week in SW CO, right now it's 61 and dropping. If I hadn't just cleaned the shit out of my stove I'd light a fire.

The highest I saw on my thermometer at home was 97, but plenty of places got over 100 today and it's only supposed to get hotter through Monday.

It only hit 79* here but other places on the Island were in the upper 80's/ low 90's, in Eastsound was 98. The highest I've ever seen it here was 89*, When Seattle was over 100 10 or 15 years ago it was only 82 here. The south end of the island has much more moderate temperatures than the north end, you can feel the change when you pass a certain point on the road.

Just saw on the news it’s supposed to be 114 on Monday, in Seattle.

Hard to wrap my head around that one.

Damn. AC is such a necessity here. A lifeline.

I think the official high was 101. It hit that for a short time around 1730. It’s hot but doesn’t really feel different than a normal hot spell here

I'm definAtely on the ventilation train.

As soon as temps outside drop below inside temps in the evening, box fan in high window in high living room ceiling (requires ladder) is blowing out, East facing first floor window box fan blowing in.
On going to bed, a couple first floor windows are left 1" open with fans blowing in, high fan runs all night blowing out.

I'm up at 4:30 watching inside temperatures until they start to rise (got it down to 73.5 inside this am), then shut down everything and hunker down until outside temps fall below house temps and repeat.

That's gotten us through all previous heat spells. Not so much this one.
