I haven’t used one, but I’d be concerned it’s too weak to get a good char going. It’s 1560 watts, which is equivalent to about 5300 btu/hr. A comparable size Weber portable gas grill is 12,000 btu/hr.

The only thing i can say is that when comparing the webers and similar higher end electric ones in the store they seemed to come with heavy cast iron grates instead of the lighter stainless steel ones found on cheap portable propane grills. I was sort of hoping that might make the difference even if it takes a long time to heat up - and the top temp is sub par.
It's a lot of money to pay for a little convenience though - especially if what you're getting is basically an indoor / outdoor george foreman.j'ai des grands instants de lucididididididididi

I think it’s the obtaining of propane that’s the problem - to which I suggest hard lining gas or propane from the house to the grill.
of course you’ve got to be really careful - my neighbor left his going to burn off the crud on the grill, then went away for a few days and ended up emptying his house propane tank - at least he didn’t burn the house downI didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

I've had the Weber Q gas grill. It was decent, but rather heavy for something thats supposed to be portable.

No, they don't sell propane at Costco. Unless you are willing to get ripped off doing the trade in at the grocery store, there are not tons of places that refill propane, at least around me. There's two places within 15 minutes and both close their propane sales at 5pm.

Smokers, grills, and BBQs. What are you cooking?
It sounds like nobody has tried one of these yet. but instead of saying that it's like i bought a house with an electric charging port and i am considering getting a hyundai kona to commute and you're telling me that it's just no big deal to fill up once a week instead.
guess it's been awhile since you lived in an apartment in the northeast and walked to the grocery store to get your stuff two bags at a time!
I mean, can you even get up madame g’s these days?Last edited by ex-powderbroker; 06-15-2022 at 01:41 PM.

I actually just read a review comparing the Q-1400 and the Q-2400. The conclusion was that the 1400 is better because they use the exact same heating element, just different size cooking surface. If they sold a more solid nicer looking stand, I’d be all over one of the portable Weber gas or electrics.

dude, that is solid intel, thanks. and yeah the stand pretty much blows. there's a Napoleon q that has a better stand but i have a little brand loyalty to Weber and have never heard of Napoleon.

Napolean is a Canadian competitor to Weber. Been around for a pretty long time now, and generally get pretty solid ratings:
