What's up with this storm? Mammoth Snowman calling for 3-4 feet up top, while NOAA winter storm watch is for 1-2 feet (albeit likely at a lower elevation).

If things come through as expected by Snowman anyone want to head up Thursday or Friday for the weekend?

I am going to be up Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It would be great to hook up for turns on Sunday.

W00t. Gondola opens today or tomorrow. Spinning chair 12 today. Starting to look interesting. I'm betting gondola means cornice bowl, but maybe just groomers?? Will be top to bottom somehow… Stoked.

So DD, heading up thur afternoon to ski freshies if you want to meet up next week/carpool?
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Anybody got a tip on where to go for a tune etc in the LA area? Just bought some skis at SkiDazzle and need to get them done. North/East of downtown is preferable.

Anybody heading up today? Yesterday was pretty good. Coverage certainly thin in spots on cornice, but well worth while. Wipeout and drop out also open, with better coverage. Was considering a hiking to chute skier's left of 23 today, which also is open.

Hoping that next storm around the 11th delivers, as I will be up there for my 1st trip of the season. Should be interesting to see how sore my out of shape legs get.

Ended up on Mt Rose Saturday and Elephants back sunday. Coverage was much better than I expected. Even found some nice soft untracked bowls on the east side of Elephants back. really felt like winter again
Tahoe has more on the ground than the mammoth area right now. Though Cornice was looking thin from the highway driving by yesterday

Brother coming to visit this weekend. I love the guy, but he is really cramping my steez on getting what very well might be some mega-rad (or giga-rad) rope drops Saturday if wind keeps things from opening tomorrow. Double stager right under bout second or third to last gondola tower (I guess that's Climax??) will be haunting me until I ski it (or Gosey it trying...)

Looks like a cold, cold storm. Winter Weather Warning 1 - 3 feet above 7000'. NWS now saying 10-14" tonight and 4-8" tomorrow at 9800'. If y'all don't get out and enjoy, Wayne Brady might have to choke a bitch...

Good news is another week to hit the gym and get these damn legs working again. ?Storm upcoming Friday?? Definitely planning for Mammoth next weekend. Hope to be skiing semi-strong by then. I'll be checkin'!

I hear you. I made a promise to the wifey that I would attend her company Christmas party on Sunday. She gave me the Death Stare when I mentioned heading up to Mammoth this weekend. No more weekend plans for the rest of the winter! I think I am going to try for Big Bear on Saturday with my son.

Ok, I haven't checked in on this thread in a while. I've been out here living in San Clemente and working at Pendelton for almost three months now. I haven't really entertained the idea of skiing yet at all. I'm about to buy my 3rd surfboard and I'm completely hooked. The first month of surfing was completely humbling. I almost said fuck it and quit several times. Once the NW swells started happening I got a state parks pass and started surfing San Onofre a bunch. This place is the promise fucking land for an old dude learning to longboard. I'll be back in CO to catch the rest of ski season in April, but this is fucking coool!

Bump. After ortho residency in Tucson, will once again be moving out Californee way. Matched into shoulder & elbow surgery reconstruction fellowship at Kerlan Jobe in LA for 2021-2022.

So that's a ways off, but will be downright delighted to get back up to Miss Mammy. With wife (and almost certainly young son) in tow!

    Watch yer cornholes.

Turns out this fellowship pays in beans and yen. So no mammoth for us. Likely mt. Baldy maybe every other weekend or so though. Pasadena is pretty rad. Aside from the bean payment that is…

    Why, hello there, Hilda.

With a name like that, I imagine that you grew up at the foot of the Jungfrau, eating goat cheese and learning to yodel.
