Greetings all,
Black Diamond Lodge and Tours based in Hokkaido Japan are looking for some new members to join our team for the 2014-15 season.
You must be hard working, able to think on your own, handle responsibilities and most importantly be passionate about snow and stoking people out!
Each season BDL and BDT try to deliver the best powder adventure possible for each and every guest while combining the unique cultural experience of Japan. From the financially strapped hardcore to the guy who is willing to pay for the very best, we offer something for everyone. We now also offer sled ski, cat ski and Heli skiing in Japan through HBC (Hokkaido Backcountry Club) our mechanized ski/board dept.
This will be BDL & T's 10 anniversary and we plan on going bigger and better (as always ) this season. We are looking for:
- Operations manager for BDT and HBC
-under limited supervision you will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing day-to-day operations for 6-12 guides. Experience in human resources, computer skills and snow/guiding related experience and knowledge are a must. The successful candidate must be able to work well under stress, be flexible and a team player. A university degree in a related field and Japanese ability and/or experience will score you big points.
-Salary will commensurate with experience.

-Filmer, Editor and Media Relations Specialist
-For our 10th anniversary, BDL and BDT will be making a film throughout the entire season. Are you an aspiring ski/snowboard filmer/producer? Do you have experience filming actions sports a love for snow and are you interested in spending the entire season in Japan? If so then this is the job for you. Each season BD works with several film companies from around the world showing them the best Hokkaido has to offer. This year, we plan to do more of the same but this time showcasing behind the scenes footage of how the professionals get it done in Japan. The BD reality show.
The successful candidate will:
- have a portfolio of past work completed
- be proficiently skilled with current editing software
- ideally have (or be currently completing) a degree or diploma related to this field. - preferably be from Alberta Canada (not necessary but may help for our story)
- preferably have experience and understanding of producing documentaries
-Payment will commensurate with experience

-Professional Ski Bum
Every season we have one or to ski bums working with us at the lodge. You are required to wprk a minimum of three hours a day to cover room and meals. Duties will include but are not limited to:
-shoveling snow
-cooking breakfast
-shuttling guests
-skiing/riding your brains out
-shoveling snow
This is a non-paying job if you don't want to work many hours or have a working holiday visa. If you are able to obtain a visa and want to work more, than we have work for you.
Other jobs that are available are:
-Snowmobile guide : requires a working holiday visa or at least 36 months experience and current outdoor/industrial first aid.
-Heli ski guides: Only experienced qualified guides need apply
-Backcountry touring guides: Only experienced qualified guides need apply
Rental Car and Snowmobile tours Manager: Knowledge of vehicles, winter driving skills and a valid drivers permit a must.
-Web designer and social media specialist
