That's at the bottom of every single Daily Mail article. If you click on the author byline at the top it links to a list of other articles he's written that largely looks legit at first glance; I don't think it's a "sponsored content" article. Still, the whole thing reeks of BS: seemingly too-good-to-be-true claims, multi-million dollar deal to produce a potentially multi-trillion dollar product, lone inventor toiling alone, and auto/battery industry conspiracy to suppress his ideas.

That article reads like a hot mess.

I do think that there are a few emerging energy technologies that will make some rapid changes. Look at the Chevy bolt. They added 10% capacity to the battery for the 2020... Same sized battery. That sort of increase would double the range in 7 cycles (I don't remember if this was a two or three year cycle).

'Artificial leaf' successfully produces clean gas

On the artificial leaf, two light absorbers, similar to the molecules in plants that harvest sunlight, are combined with a catalyst made from the naturally abundant element cobalt.
When the device is immersed in water, one light absorber uses the catalyst to produce oxygen. The other carries out the chemical reaction that reduces carbon dioxide and water into carbon monoxide and hydrogen, forming the syngas mixture.
As an added bonus, the researchers discovered that their light absorbers work even under the low levels of sunlight on a rainy or overcast day.
"This means you are not limited to using this technology just in warm countries, or only operating the process during the summer months," said PhD student Virgil Andrei, first author of the paper. "You could use it from dawn until dusk, anywhere in the world."
Well this solution will never work for anyone, anywhere because obviously the Arctic and Antarctic, which make up 1/3 of the planet, are dark for 6 months a year. What are they going to do? Not drive for 6 months?!?! Foolish communist environmentalists! -

Rats trained to operate mini cars find driving relaxing, study finds

A group of rats at the University of Richmond in Virginia have mastered the ability to drive miniature cars to collect food, with a recent study showing the animals find learning to drive — among other skills — relaxing.

    And the adorable video...

Why are we teaching rats to drive? Seems like a bad idea.

First hit on googling "uber rats" after a coincidental BBC story about them, the uber rats, the small animals, the furry, the ones with the big tails:

Google says it's achieved quantum supremacy

Google's research paper has now been published in the scientific journal Nature.
Quantum supremacy is a big deal, because it encapsulates the ability of quantum computers to solve problems that current technology couldn't even begin to attempt. Google's paper explains how its 53-bit quantum computer -- named Sycamore -- took just 200 seconds to perform a calculation that would have taken the world's fastest supercomputer 10,000 years.

Gut microbes regulate neurons to help mice forget their fear

    https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-03114-1

Microorganisms in the gut influence fear-related learning. The results of a study that reveals some of the mechanistic underpinnings of this phenomenon promise to boost our understanding of gut–brain communication.
