Peoples,
My daughter needs a recent article on some cool biology thing that she can analyze for correct scientific method following. Anything that won't put her to sleep out there that you know of?

Welcome to my world!
I've linked to that blog a few times early on in the pandemic, he was publishing some of the best analyses of ongoing studies with some really well written background.
If you want to laugh you should dig up some of the posts he has under "stuff I won't work with". It will give you an idea of the insanity that is chemistry around high-energy compounds, or stuff that really reeks, etc..."Your wife being mad is temporary, but pow turns do not get unmade" - mallwalker the wise

Cool Science, or annoying science?

Astronomers are concerned that the BlueWalker 3 satellite, which will use an antenna the size of a squash court to beam internet to mobile phones, could outshine everything in the night sky except for the moonAim for the chopping block. NASA is bashing a satellite into an asteroid tonight to practice bumping it out of the way.

If it breaks open and releases a gigantic swarm of planet consuming mechanical mega-wasps, the conspirisphere will go nuts.

So, was that a planet killer sized asteroid? I'm guessing not, since a single satellite managed to shift its course. Can they model how much kinetic force it would take to move a planet killer off line?

Not sure how big it was, but sounds like one of their big requirements was to find one they wouldn’t accidentally push INTO Earths orbit if things went bad

The risk was that if a high risk asteroid is found and this hadn't already been demonstrated we might have a "Don't Look Up" scenario. Playing it up as a high risk mission was a psy-op to make sure people would remember that it worked back in 2022.
