The Unbreakable Ski Brake...Comments?
http://postimg.org/image/6kgfj9g7d/
The ski brake is design to rotate in one direction as the majority of skiers ski facing forwards. Broken ski brakes are generally caused by skiers travelling backwards and applying excessive forward lean to the ski. With the progression of freestyle skiing, there are an increasing number of skiers travelling backwards (switch) down the slopes and landing jumps in this position. I believe this has caused and increased number of cases where skiers have consistently bent or even broken off their ski brakes.
***See image link above for the full illustration***
I have the idea to produce a new binding whereby the ski brake can rotate in both directions and therefore is not damaged if the skier is ejected from the binding travelling backwards.
Key Questions:
1. How common is this problem for you and your fellow skiers?
2. Is this a product you would be interested in and pay for?
3. How much would expect to pay for a binding with this feature?
4. What issues do you face with your current ski binding and brake system?

I would pay nothing. Brakes are cheap and easy to come by. Also, are you going to design this new brake to fit every binding on the market?

Mags don't need ski brakes. We all have our DINs cranked to 20 and our skis are never coming off.

I had this happen once in 20 something years of skiing. The binding manufacturer sent me a new brake assembly. Problem solved.
Post this on newschoolers and you might get a better response but Im guessing this is still a somewhat rare problem even for the park rats."College sailing isn't about who wins the most races, its about who can stand in the morning"

Hi Matt,
1) The brakes on my Rax skis are very unreliable. Every time I fall while skiing switch on my Rax the brakes have broken. I have sent multiple PM's to Tom from Austria asking for this problem to be addressed, but he says the unique design of Rax skis make the brakes vulnerable when skiing switch.
2) Price is no object to me. I would be willing to pay in excess of $5,000 plus my Mom will make you a bacon sandwich if your brakes can solve my problem.
I have 2 questions:
1) Will I need to use a titanium hammer to install your brakes ?
2) Do you have change for a nickel ?"Zee damn fat skis are ruining zee piste !" -Oscar Schevlin

I don't ski broke back (or broke brake!) since I only ski uphill with skins on.

Matt is probably an underpaid assistant hired to keep threads like this going by neither getting it nor responding to it. Same person spamming at Epic, and probably every other online ski site.
