    Scotland Fishing Advice ?!

Just found out that I may have to be in Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days mid June......possible able to be there a couple of days before or after.....anyone ever fished there (anywhere in Scotland)? I have minimal Salmon experience....anything running that time a year? how expensive is it to get on a river? I assume guided? probably could only do a day or two....any advice on where to get info, who to talk to? Thanks!!!! Chet

(i'll bite since no one has yet)

i have only fished for trout in scotland on the west side
my uncle is in perthshire and he fishes the Tay a few times a year

spring & fall seem to be the most optimum time to go after salmon, though june may be ok if the weather is amenable (if spring lingers late)

because water is private in scotland, you really need to sign up for a guide service for a day (250 pounds min?). some hotels own rights to stretches of river and you can access them as a guest staying there. This may be an option for you since it's not high season for salmon fishing; i understand they are booked well in advance.

this link lets you search for dates and locales for fishing opportunities

hopefully a local can chime in to give you more than that

i'm interested to hear what you end up doing
