I have been waiting for something like that to get added to gear swap for years just to take it to Ullrfest. If it happens this year I might just have to pick up a shitload of casters and hope for the best.

I actually did it a few times at Bryce. Is that what you're thinking of? It was fun as a weird thing to do, but not anything I think I'd get really into doing...

I recall Chip telling me they did it at Mnut, maybe all both of the VA ski areas.

I owned a pair of the Grassskis for a few years...tricky buggers...work great on steep, tightly-cropped grass slopes (poach the golf course hills if you have any nearby)...
- Keep a can of silicone spay handy to prep the rollers before each descent
- Keep the rollers clean of grass bits and grit
- Don't roller ski when the grass is wet or dewy...they will accumulate gunk and slow you down
- If you hit a little pothole or rock...get ready to take a BIG step and RUN with them to get back on track
- Get elbow pads
- Jumps are nasty...landings often put you on your face
Never tried the NordicSkater rollerskis....seen them on people near our house a few miles from the Nordic Skater shop...all pavement usage...never seen anyone on dirt roads with them.Mass-Produced Skiers Use Mass-Produced Skis
Rip it up with something different.
