YOU CANNOT DEFEAT MY SNAKE STYLE!!!

No poles on a powder day?!?

I don't need no stinkin' poles!

Yeah, so I pulled the gaper move today and forgot my poles on a 10" day @ Loveland ... D'oh!

    I had a blast!

And I noticed I was often skiing in SNAKE STYLE!

Not to piss on your parade, but there's no lost and found or rental shop there where you can just waltz in and grab a pair for free?

^^^ yeah, in retrospect that would have been the way to go.

i went into the rental shop and the line was waaaay too long to fuck around with; but i almost think that i had more fun than with poles.

charged hard; tomahawked well; got the ego-rubbing comment from a woman in the liftline: "wow, no poles on a day like today? you must be badass!".
to which i just blushed and said i was just forgetful.

although i did ski like a badass (albeit a fotgetful badass).

and ... YOU CANNOT DEFEAT MY SNAKE STYLE!!!

No, maybe next time though; that sounds like fun.

@ satch: I looked basically like that, but that guy clearly doesn't know how to tomahawk.

Dropped a pole from a lift in Snowmass today.
Did 1.5 laps in semi manky chop with one pole / quarterstaff before becoming reunited with my lost pole. (somehow missed it on the first lap)
Some guy said you must have been charging so hard you missed it.

    True.

Never done it on a pow day, but once or twice a year I run no poles just for the hell of it. It feels very freeing.

Maybe like riding my single speed where I’m more aware of uphills and flow.

Ski no poles a few times a month. Mainly on carving skis and sometimes on terrain skis on mellow bump runs.

Not sure what the PSIA nerds say, but I feel like it’s a great practice to stay low and stay forward.

    Agreed.
My skiing was better after psuedo snake style segment.

yeah, so he's in a medically induced coma right now - so real funny there bruh, pure class.

As for snake style - too funny, made me giggle a whole lot and I am happy to report that forgetting my poles is at least a yearly occurrence. No poles on a deep pole day is commitment to shredding the gnar, tomahawk included

IME Its about triggering the turn by lightly tapping the snow, try ripping a couple piece of bamboo out of the snow fence and plant those
