Instead of being a dick, you wanna go fishing? Offering you the chance to meet someone and either fish or ski cuz I think it Ed be fun and I figure chances are you're a good dude. I need to see a friend of mine in Hailey this weekend and that's halfway between us if you're in SE ID. We can fish the Wood or hike for some turns somewhere.
It will be fun regardless of conditions.

    I'm serious. You in?

4/20 on the Green Jimmy, we'll be there. Put it on your calendar if you want to meet reel skiers and fishermen.

BTW Jimmy, if you'd been paying any attention at all you'd have noticed that the Turdhunter is a fuckhead.

If I assumed overly much from these boards, I'd have concluded you're a fuckhead, too. But despite the fact that only a fuckhead would think I don't already know a bunch "reel skiers and fishermen," I figure you're likely not a fuckhead, either.

Sorry I just saw this James. Unlike real skiing fishermen and green rivers experts like Bobby boy I have better things to do than play on the internet everyday.

I'd for sure fish with ya but this time of year ain't good for me. Killing small animals with my dog takes precedence. Although I have been out a few times lately chasing migrating browns out of a certain lake. When we do hook up maybe Bobby boy can join us and with his vast experience in being a real green rivers fishmen can show us how they do it on the greens.

oh and sorry for the gay jab james, just giving you tenkara shit nothing personal.

    I'm all ears, pal.

And if you're going to take a shot at me at least back it up with some damning evidence because I'm not sure what you're on about.

Do you catch bows in March, April and May? Do catch browns in October and November? You're catching spawning fish so STFU and stop being such a condescending cunt. You act like you're gods gift to the fly fishing world.

After going through a phase where I thought I might add a Tenkara rod to my collection, my fishing pard of several decades suggested I just tie a line onto on of my many rods and with the money saved by him lots of beer. He is a wise man.

Hey tenkara people. I almost got a setup for my Colorado trail thru hike but didn't and wish I had because holy crap there were some good spot along the way.
So I want to just get a set up so I am ready.
Are the Amazon offerings any good? I want to keep it under 200 all in and suitable for backpacking (light), quick stops to wet the hook in a brook and see what I get.
My kid brought a pack rod spinning reel setup on a 2 week trip this summer and caught do many trout I couldn't believe it. He is 12.
Tenkara rod co is having a labor day sale so that's the other option. Is it better gear or just better marketing?
    Fish pic for attention

It's a ten foot carbon tampon.

    Tenkara seems perfect for backpacking.

    Thanks for all the help.

I fished my buddy’s tenkara almost a decade ago, and it was fun for what it was. Perfect for nymphing along small water with little to no setup time.

He never had any issues with it from what I could see, but I haven’t kept up on other options over time

Actually I think a tiny tenkara might be cool to stuff in my jersey pocket for a mountain bike ride to a creek. Otherwise I have lots of other rods to do the same thing only better.

    I go trail running with.....

    .....A fly rod.

It's not like a fly rod+reel is heavy. And if I'm going to be near clean water I can carry a Lifestraw or pump instead of a bunch of water. An 8'6" 4 piece rod in a sock tucked into a running vest barely reaches over my head. I don't care if other people are into tenkara, but it sure is limiting.

What I use now is this tiny little reel that was handmade for me by Dennison Ultralight in Oregon and he made these tiny little fly rods too, (but I broke those climbing over rocks). Anyway I replaced those w/ Eagle Claw 5 foot 2pc rod for 37 bucks. I cut a flyline in half so it fits on the reel, and it works perfect for the Tenkara target application, plus I can cast, and a fish can take line.
