I worked at a veterinary clinic where one of the vets (a woman) hooked herself up to an IV and euthanized herself. Typically, men are more likely to succeed at suicide because they are less likely to ask for help than women. Usually, but not always, women are less emotionally isolated than men.

I don't know you mtngirl, but it's good to see you posting here after your last thread (if I have my aliases correct). Hope you're dealing with your shit well.

Same to all you assholes too I guess.

Morbid thread, but a sad reality. Reach out to your friends while you can.

EDIT: flawed wikishit too. No lawyers? Come on. Or maybe I'm thinking about biggest boozers.

Do it, there are way too many assholes around anyways.

Japan culture, it has become out of hand, good people going down for shame.
Here in the west, we need more people checking out.

They fuck themselves up, they fuck up the system, and the most important thing, they fuck up other people.

If you meet all those criteria, please explain why not?

Morbid as hell thread, and I am just trolling.

I believe in redemption, forgiveness and compassion. Love can heal and we all can forgive ourselves.

Divorce rates, alcoholism, abuse, lying, anger issues etc., but not suicide.

I have no doubt you are right on. Let's not forget drug abuse. They certainly have good connections as they take stuff off of people everyday. I've known people who were cops that got kicked of the force for bad things (not that I hung out with them) and I've bought pot from an ex-cop 20 years ago who was one of the most fucked up people I have ever met. Cops are a nuisance (but as the saying goes, "who are you going to call? A meth head when someone breaks into your house") and some of them have huge problems like the people they put in jail.

Men are more likely to succeed because self inflicted gunshots are much more common. Women typically overdose.

Had a gentleman come into the ER yesterday who attempted the double whammy of parking running car in the garage, and taking a bottle of Tylenol.

Best effort goes to the guy a few weeks ago who shot himself in the chest, subsequently passed out, woke up, shot himself in face, passed out, and then was found and brought to the hospital.

Man, you would think, with all that, and a loaded gun on the dresser, it would be cops.

Cops are too egotistical to off themselves in large numbers.

I've always wondered why people become dentists. Sure the money is not bad, but it's a complete dead end. You're going to be drilling and filling from your first day to your last day.

None of the articles I saw mentioned the military. In particular, the army has a pretty high suicide rate, and it gets considerably higher if you start to look at veterans.

My Wife's Dentist offed himself. It was pretty tragic, he had a great family, nice practice etc.

The way it was explained to me is you spend your entire life in college, you get out with huge debt, now you have to start a business, work with people and MANAGE people, more debt and you are one the least popular people on the planet. Everyone hates going to the dentist.

I currently have an angry Asian dentist, Im pretty sure when he goes hes taking a 14yo with cavities with him. Godspeed.

I saw something that said it was up to 24 per 100,000 in 2012. Army had over twice the suicide rate of any other branch of the armed forces. U.S. average is around 19 per 100,000.

Just got back from my BFF's dental office... 1st root canal is 1/2 way done, woo-hoo! (But there goes next years cat skiing dream trip.)

I always worry a little as we both had a close mutual friend who committed suicide just shy of his post-doc thesis (orthodontics). He had decided he didn't want to work on mouths for the rest of his life, so was considering law school. Then his gf dumped him, and so he took a bottle of pills that night.

A customer of mine did it after her ex-husband had served her with divorce papers. She planned it all out and it is bizarre that this was in the forefront of her mind while we were interacting for two weeks. She even cleaned out her garage and gave me some things for my daughter... (Her kids were both teens and fwiw, she was still a very attractive 50 yo with plenty on money). Came by for the check and she was dead.

Both deaths still weigh on me a little and I wish I had been more sensitive to their pains. All you can do is try to be there for your friends still here, and remind yourself that it is never worth going that far. Sad stuff and so wasteful... life can definitely sometimes suck shit, but it almost always gets better.

Definitely an 8ball, a prossy or 2 then a gun in the mouth for me.

Or maybe a necktie around the throat, a copy of Interracial Holestretchers 3, and some hand lotion.

Wait, what are we talking about again?

i keep hearing about this "old thread that dealt with suicide or something of the like".

Sounds like a bunch of 2 year olds making fun of people with mental health issues.

No shit. The non-tgr dentists I know work short hours, make great money and have lots of time off. Half the lawyers I know complain incessantly about how shitty their job is, or have stopped practicing law.

Thats easy. even if youre really bad at it and cant get a job outside working for the local city court, you still got some sort of mystical power over most people just because you supposedly know how to sue the hell out of 'em if they look at you wrong.

why more people dont off themselves in prison, i dont get. you spend almost every day in a box and are told when to eat, sleep and shit and when you get out, any career path you had planned on is over. (i realize thats real similar to a lot of corporate jobs, but at least you can surf porn and drink during lunch at a job).
