    Devinci Troy

About to pull the trigger on a Troy Carbon. Lots of options in this category, looked at the Yeti SB75 and Giant Trance. Really like the XP build option which comes with the Pike fork and limetime warranty at $3,500 msrp seems pretty hard to beat...

Other recs in this category in same price range 3-4K??

    Anyone on this bike?

A carbon Troy for $3,500 is a really good deal, but I might lean towards an aluminum option with better parts.

They offer the carbon frame with the aluminum parts build at 3,500. The pike fork alone with the carbon frame is close to retail so you get the parts practically for free...will make it easier to switch out the brakes and maybe wheels at some point...

Yeah, no question it's a good deal at that price, but you can get the aluminum version with the same parts for ~$600 less, and the aluminum frame only weighs about .4 lbs more than the carbon one. With the $600 you save, you could easily shave more than .4 lbs off of other parts on the bike, and probably do it in places that matter more (like the wheels).

But the aluminum frame isn't as sexy, so there's that.

I haven't ridden one myself but it was a bike I was interested in at one point. Did you happen to see this?

I rode it a little bit. I didn't find it to be out of whack with most of the other bikes I've ridden in terms of length of the cockpit. Some bikes were certainly longer, but I don't recall feeling cramped at all on the Troy. I would tend to agree that the Troy errs on the side of flickable and playful rather than mack truck-ish, and some of that is due to the fact that it's not crazy long. I'm 5'9, 32" inseam, and I rode a medium.

Trigger pulled on the carbon, good points about the aluminum build price savings, I'm just a sucker for carbon.

There's an 18 page thread on mtnbike that gets into the size discussion. I like to climb and being vertically challenged at 5'8" the medium looks great to me even with a shorter tt.

This category is exploding, seems hard to go wrong with so many good options out there
