PNW Longboard Day 2014: Saturday April 19: Alpental. Dial Your Retro Style >=210cm

The Rites of Spring is more than just Stravinsky, daffodils, rain, Easter, Eggs, cleaning, Equinoxes, randy Satyrs, rebirth, Daylight Savings or even Spring Training.

Over the courses of madnesses that have roared through TGR, PowderMag, or even (gasp) the K2Chatter Board over these past 15 years, a lot has changed. Yes, we've gotten older, dumber, required trusses, support hose and even briefs to combat the saggings of ages.

But dammit, Longboard Days go on. So c'mon down.

WTF is Longboard Day? It's the day when the guys ski on skis at least 210 cm long and the girls are on skis 195 or longer. That's It.

Plus, there's tons of st00pid stuff that goes on like grilling, chilling and swilling, cavorting around in retro gear, smokestry, fireworks, dogs, and other byproducts of way too much fun.

But mostly it's slashing Alpentals rad terrain on huDge skis with a bunch of likeminded wackjobs.

And we want YOU, yes YOU to join us in the Longboard Army's Ski Against Mediocrates of Pedestrium.

And that's right: Short Skis SUCK:
    The Anthem:

What is this now, the 8th Annual PNWLBD?

    Who can remember?

2012 years crew in full effect

    So again:

Where: Alpental, set up in the furthest lot up, lot 4.

    When: Saturday April 19, 2014.

Who: YOU and a lot of PNW miscreants, ne'er do wells, stoners, drunks and random blotches across the states of humanity.

Hey B (or ACH or any other kooky loc-dogs) -- got any spare longboards?

I'd like to attend, but I'm green enough to never have owned anything longer than 194cm.

Usually, there are rack and racks (of skis, buddy) and willing tools (not people) just waiting to be used.

I am pretty sure there are refreshments being consumed while the long boards sit in waiting.

I'll be bringing two spare pairs this year. Norseman, I'll save the Sally DH 220's for ya. They're fuckin' badass and too scary for me. Have to remember to mount them up. You have a normal sized foot?

I wanna go, but being a pass holder elsewhere, I'm too cheap to buy a ticket. I do have a free ticket available to Mt Hood Meadows if any Summit guys would want to barter...it's preloaded on my pass so I would have to acquire said ticket at the window the day of use with you there.

    Discount tickets anywhere?

In for this, like others i rely on the supplies of others should the thrift store gods be unkind. Happy to supply intoxicating liquid in exchange.

I have an extra pair of 222cm DH Kneissl skis shown in the 2nd ski picture that people are welcome to use. They turn... eventually.

LBD is not to be missed. Rain or shine, it is one of the funnest days of the year.

Sadly, the days of finding thrift shop 210+ are pretty much gone. Haven't seen any in years, and I look a lot. Occasional dumpster/garage sale finds (mofro) etc. seem to be the way they're turning up these days.

As for me the jr. comp at the southern resort is still on their calendar that day, though I was advised by some that it would be cancelled. No comp, I'll be there. Comp, will need to make arrangements to get the spare longboards to the hill.

I'll try to be there as well. I don't have any long boards, but last year it wasn't a problem to borrow a pair.

The fajitas were certainly great, if I'm there I'll bring some sort of food as well.

    That's Baker closing weekend.

A week later and it's possible my 217s will make their first pnw appearance. That weekend I'm obliged to my home mountain (not to mention it's been five years since I've skied those things...)

I really don't want my free MHM ticket to go to waste. Some Alpental mag/maggette must have a free chit/ticket they want to barter for a free Meadows ticket.
