    A-Basin east wall lines

Alan Hencecroth, COO of A Basin posted this sweet photo map of the east wall with a ton of lines labeled: Click image for larger version.

It seems to me that a lot of these named lines might be permanently closed. Does anybody know what lines have the possibility of opening besides the obvious few? I have ridden Willie's Wide, North Pole and North Pole Couloir and one of the notches, definitely want to get up to the snorkel nose and maybe booger ramp if they ever open? Seems like we are in store for a long east wall season, last Saturday was super fun.

The tree chutes can be fun. only line I've skied on the east wall so I couldn't tell you more but they should definitely be opening this year

Yeah, the tree chutes and the more standard lines on the east wall have already all opened a few times this year. I guess I'm more curious about what other, more obscure lines have the chance of opening that I should keep an eye open for.

    Cool. Thanks for posting

Not sure why Marjorie is labeled since it is out of bounds

Many of the names are just for patrol to describe what they got to slide from bombing from the howitzer. Birthday through South Falls is usually off limits, as it Jet AFAIK. They've all been skied, but not legally.

Do the Humbugs ever get opened? I haven't skied there for years but when I did they were never open.

Yeah I'm not surprised those lines are a permanent closure. I'm also not surprised they have been skied. Does booger ramp or booger snot ever open?

Yeah, booger opens sometimes when there's enough snow.
Humbugs don't open anymore because of the risk of cutting loose onto the traverse and groomer.

Corner Chute, Booger Snot, Booger Ramp, Snorkel Nose, and Snorkel Door usually open in good snow years.

That North Pole Cool-Air line/zone looks interesting. Man, this makes me want to go ski A-Basin so bad right now.

I'm seriously starting to lose it here in Flagstaff, we have had 103 inches for the season.

All of those were open at the end of the year when we got those big storms last season. I never got over to them but heard it didn't suck

I skied them late last year. Very fun indeed. Steeper than most of the North pole access stuff if I remember right.

They used to let us ski TJ's and The Falls back in the day.

Head east for the best terrain, where 185 couloirs in Chihuahua Gulch will keep you busy.

My buddies skied TJ's in April or May of 2011 when it was fat. They thought it was legal, and they shralped it. Patrol met them at the bottom and were gonna let them off on the fact that they slayed it, but they got charged with trespassing. They showed up for their court date and got the charges dropped.

    OMG, chunks.

I really enjoy getting into Chihuahua in the springtime. But the sun shines straight onto all those huge overhanging cornices in the morning, yes? Really heats up early. One time I saw somebody drop up to their waist into a crack at the top. I've been skiing more to the skier's left or even just straight down the gut from the top.

I used to know a way to sneak into one of those lines, maybe the fourth one down? Should look for it again. Here's a pic of my friend climbing down into it:
