I've read over the last few years that there are these floating collections of trash out in the oceans that some say are "bigger than the state of Maryland". Have they found any of them? Or is that just more biased bullshit?

Garbage patches aren't as apparent as you might think mostly consisting of small particles of plastics and other polymers that have broken down to some degree. Also there are slicks of chemicals collecting in the same area.

People often picture a floating landfill when they think of it, but that's not quite what it is.
