That is my experience every time we go that way. Suicidal fucks on that road but it goes to CB, Silverton, and T ride.

My 15 year old has never skied in Summit county. Taught him to ski when he was 5. I figure I need to leave him something to explore when he moves out.

Everything you say is true. I skied Loveland for 5 years and that place really does blow, and I don't mean that ironically or sarcastically.

And they donít allow bootlicking to get The Ridge open earlier. Plus no bars on the lifts! How does someone get a rest!

Yeah. It's like Eldora in that way. I mean, I'm glad people like them... but... sheesh.

Yeah I really donít get the appeal of Loveland.

The terrain for the most part is not that good and the only good terrain is rarely open due to patrol / management issues. ABasin is a mile away and has had Pali open since the end of December.

Also I do not appreciate the old school slow lifts. I realize people jokingly mentioned that but I do not find slow lifts appealing. A slow lift means less time skiing and more time wasted on a slow ass lift in the wind. That is a step backwards in comfort and convenience imho.

I will still ski Loveland sometimes but I would never buy Loveland as my only pass.

    Because (compared to Abasin)

    - Lift 1 steeps are still fun. Yeah, they're not quite pali in variety, but still about 900-1000' of consistent fall line ski.
    - Snow conditions are almost always as good or better.
    - Beer in the lodge is significantly cheaper.
    - On hill warming shacks where I can grill my own brat for lunch or drink my own beer.
    - Useful lifts are no slower than Pali / Lenawee / etc. Compared to 1, 9, 4.

    Most importantly
    - No Epic hoards. Everytime I"ve been at Abasin on the weekend I'm standing in 5-10 minute lines for Pali. More time standing in lift line means more time not skiing. To say nothing of the parking shit show, and every drunk bro who thinks he's the shit.
    - Better access to I70. No fucking tunnel. No pass to content with. Yeah, they are only 7mi apart. But the difference in getting home on a weekend day can be an hour easily.

As a weekeday skier, sure. I'd take Abasin most the time. For the logistics to quality of skiing for a weekender, Loveland makes a lot of sense.

Dobe has no idea what he's talking about. Loveland blows. Windy as fuck. Snow sucks. Lifts you can skin faster than. Food makes you sick. No good beers in the bar. Parking is crowded and you have to shuttle from the valley. I-70 noise.

Stay epic. You'll thank me. No...really.

ha, you can pretend Loveland sucks on here, but this is TGR forums and most of the people who will read this have been there and know what's up. That said, I still don't get why more people don't buy passes there.

Like for reals, fuck the I-70 drive. Loveland seems like it's the tits for anyone living East of Evergreen, and who actually likes skiing, and doesn't care about being in the "Bro-Zone" every weekend.

We only have to go 6 to the land of love so skip the shit shows of Floyd Hill and Mt Vernon Canyon. God I used to hate that part of the drive.

Now shut up. Run 2 women's GS on deck.

Lol yeah I guess Loveland is ok if you have other passes but no way in hell I would limit myself to that single mountain for an entire season

Look, now they are broadcasting the times of anticipated traffic.

Looks like the early arrival and departure times that succeed in avoiding the cluster fuck are going to move back by another half hour.

    IKonic:

"Winter Park Daily Snow. This is a new location-specific Daily Snow that I’ll update each day of the season. If we had unlimited time, we could write a Daily Snow for each mountain, but for now, we’re doing our best and covering some of the more visited locations like Breckenridge, Copper, Steamboat, Vail, and Winter Park. You can find links to these Daily Snows from each mountain’s page."

I'm gonna drive down to Golden at 6:45am tomorrow morning, just so I can turn around and test that theory.

    NOT.
I used to hike 2 hours for 10 minutes of turns on 207 gs skis, without needing ďskinsĒ or ďhike mode.Ē Tell me again how Iím a gaper.

I have enough, it's over, packing my shit up at the end of this radical season and leaving.
Summit is offishally fucked, do people sit around all week jerking off at work, yelling at their kids, trying to bone their wife, only to pack them up and head to the mountains on the weekend
I salute to presidents day weekend, may it be your awesome, I just can't get over the sheer number of doshies who show up every weekend
it's a horrible way to live
i guess I should just be grateful for the ability to sit back and watch it all unfold
if I could only go back to living in a tent and skiing 100 days, that shit was truely the best
merry holidays may your weekend be boss

I hate to be all get the fuck off my lawn, but this is a fairly new thing. We used to ski every weekend from opening white ribbon to closing day. Every sat every sun and then weekday powder days as applicable. It wasn’t even a question. We would just get up every weekend morning and decide on the road where we were going. Maybe somewhere got a little more snow or wanted to go hit a certain line. This is why the whole hate on Denver thing is so weird to me. Being in Denver to enjoy the city and skiing every weekend was a very viable option for the last few decades up till just a few years back. Now it takes some gumption to do one of the weekend days let alone both.

Agree. Itís depressing in that respect. Easier if you have a place to crash or a way to be more flexible but yeah, it does suck. Iím just amazed Joe 9-5 does it every weekend.
