You'd be surprised how capable some of those semis are. It is usually the trailer that gets them stuck. I have a buddy who gets a huge crane into some pretty impressive spots for work.

OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....
Hwy 82 into Aspen was backed up, most of the day. Last night APD had a squad posted at the roundabout, to turnaround any semis trying to go over Independence Pass.

Fuck the assholes out there going 70 and crossing the solid lines to pass in a construction zone. You’re the reason people get killed.

5 million people live in the Front Range. So about 1 in 60 of the 300million that live in the US. A busy traffic day is 50k vehicles though the Eisenhower Tunnel. The population of Grand,
Eagle, Summit and Routt Counties is something like 100k. Its a capacity challenge.
Its not "fuck, everyone is going to the mountains" its "fuck, the world is a busy place...we've got one road that goes where I want to go and a bunch of people that want to do what I want to do".
Maybe it is nobody works Friday or maybe its a bit of flex schedule, remote, taking a half day, STR with friends, on vacation from out state, just driving through and so on and so on.
And then you consider bottlenecks like the City Market in Fruita. Yeah, no shit they are outta kombucha. And yet, I went on a MTB ride at 4pm yesterday in Idlewild/Rendezvous and saw 3 people. And at 5:30am on a Saturday, there is zero traffic.
So either "if you can't beat them join them" or play a bit of chess. Most of these basic bitches can't even play checkers. They'll lounge around in their PJs then line up at the Starbucks for their PSL, the girls doing that uptalk thing and the guys just trying to find their nuts.
Broncos play tomorrow at 11am. Do you think they can watch the game and still beat traffic?

I70 is a big beautiful valve that protects the mountains from overcrowding. As people adapt, days other than weekends will become busier, but as foggy points out, people will still get up here and do basic shit. Wanna see the troll? Hike Aspen Alley? Ride Aspen Alley? You are gonna have people problems. There's tons of other shit to do though that doesn't involve a million of your franger neighbors.
I got out on the motor bike at 4p yesterday. Did a big loop above treeline and saw one other car and a sxs after I hit dirt in probably 20 miles. Tons of open campsites too.
Wife spent 5 hrs on I70 trying to get to/from work because of the mess in Avon. So she did not fare so well...

took me 2 hrs 45 minutes to play 9 holes last night at keystone ranch. these people just like doing things slowly so i70 traffic is right up their alley.
