So a helo mechanic for FFL was first on scene. He's not medical. He used a bunch of tools from his truck to pry open the vehicle doors so EMS had pt access when they arrived.

285, Freemont, Hoosier etc are all hot spots for these agro driving motherfuckers that come off the I70 thinking they just have to get wherever they are going faster than every other person on the road and take stupid chances to do it. Sad that shit like this is the result. Last tour of the season. Ugh.

Gnarly. That paragraph describing the accident is strange. Sounds like it was on that hill where the big pipe crosses that the road. That section on a holiday weekend is as dangerous as there is.

Oh man the same thing happened to my next door neighbor a couple of years ago between Leadville and Copper. Oncoming attempted to pass around a corner with double yellow stripes. Head on collision. My neighbor was really messed up with multiple surgeries, still trying to recover, bad @ss biking chica. The oncoming van had a baby in it (was ok, but wtf)).

Saw a near miss between Leadville and Granite a couple weeks ago... may have had 10 feet to spare.

Holy shit that’s awful. Fuck these assholes who pass on blind corners, double lines and in residential neighborhoods (that happened to me today going 35….JFC).

Yep. This time of the year can be the worst with all the bull haulers and haywagons on the road. I had to stand on the brakes to avoid a head on on 131 a week or so again.

It really is the most dangerous think we do and makes on sense. Its rarely even someone driving a fast car well. Its just people that drive like shit and put others at risk for so reason.

I'll drive fast, but not stupid.

People who make blind passes, much less at killing speeds, I just don't get it it. No thought of consequence? Devil may care? Suicidal?

I'm fairly certain that the vast majority of people never think about the consequences of anything that they do.

Well right because that comes after accountability. If nothing is every your fault, your not on the hook for the consequences.

Fuck that. 131’s my old hood too. Hands down one of my favorite roads anywhere.

A few weeks ago I got ran off the road by someone passing me from behind, in my lane. They were probably doing 100-110 and I just happened to catch them closing in on my rearview. I swerved over the white line while they just about clipped me.

I had passed them in a passing lane about 5 minutes prior to that after being stuck behind them going 5 under for a few minutes!

So I don’t know what the fuck that was about. Road rage? Drunk? Seizure? No freaking idea. It for sure rattled me though. And ya I called it in to the sheriffs dept., who pulled them over. Fuck that POS.

They were probably on their phone when you were stuck behind them.

When a driver is doing stupid shit, swerving or driving really slow or moving erratically, 9 times out of 10 they are on their phone, IME.

Yep. It’s amazing how often I look over and see someone driving while looking down at their phone. Including going 70 mph in the left lane.

Phones? You looked inside a Tesla? Internet connected laptops. People watch movies going down the road. We've all seen it. I was at the Whole Foods in Frisco looking for some ramen bar and watched someone slow roll the entire cross walk not looking for through their windshield even once. It was busy, luckily all the pedestrians were paying attention. It was a crazy scene. Probably twenty people including young families dodging a an SUV ghosting it through a cross walk.

I think it more than distracted. We've all done that. It's there brain is 100% gone to another place. It like when you are talking to someone and they are looking at their phone. They are multi tasking and there the good hit of the socials gets them and they are gone to phone land.

I was doing some work with CDOT yesterday and those guys were pretty bummed about losing 2 of their own. Really a bummer when a job like that means putting your life at risk and they don't make shit.

Dumbass drivers are everywhere trying to kill us all. I was taking my camper on its maiden voyage on the back of my truck last winter. Not a half hour north of town a Grand Cherokee drifts into my lane, not paying attention. I was afraid to swerve with all that weight on the back so I slightly moved right, just enough to avoid his mirror scraping the side of my truck. Motherfucker never even looked up from his phone.

I'm currently in a taxi in Boston in the Ted Williams tunnel. Just arrived to go to a funeral. Guy driving a 4Runner in the lane next to me has both palms on the wheel while holding his phone horizontally between his finger tips. I believe he is watching Avengers something or other. I think I saw Spiderman and Captain America.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Would it be that big of a deal to A) make everyone take a license test every decade and B) create a function on phones that senses you are in the driver’s seat and turns your texting and web off? I don’t fucking know….

I’m so sick of driving through construction zones going the speed limit and having people flying through, weaving across solid white lines and not giving a fuck about slowing down.
