Cotrip.org shows that Loveland Pass is closed... and the webcams show that you can see the pavement. I'm assuming it's for avalanche control work or something, because the road is just fine.

Then again, it seems pretty normal anymore for them to close it within 5 minutes of the first snowflake hitting the ground.

It was open all morning. Probably closed it to prevent any more people going up and kicking off avalanches, or maybe they are blasting the sisters.

Either way, my theory of people seeing snow at the Broncos game has gone to shit. Ain't nobody watching this ugly ass game.

Driving on berthoud today around 12 was pretty gnarly. No idea what it was but passed about 5 different cars going 10 miles per hour with their hazards on. It made no sense. Obviously it's snowing. I haven't seen idiots using their hazards like that since people putting them on in the rain in Texas.

It’s all the new people that moved here over the summer. Give em a few storms and they’ll be heros doing 90 and tail gating instead.

My biggest fear. I'd rather they slow down and use their flashers. Fewer road closures that way ;-)

Road closures are great when they happen right behind me.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Saw a woman a few days ago almost crash her car after tailgating someone going the speed limit in the left lane. She gets all pissy and holds the horn down and starts flashing non-stop then passes to the right and cuts back to the left, directly in front of the other car. She then proceeds to half lean out the side window to wave her hands around and gives the person the finger and in the process swerves and almost loses it. It’s ok to be mad but don’t have a fucking stroke because someone is holding you up by 5 minutes.

Every now and again CDOT remindes me that they aren’t the clueless fucks, it’s the people they try to serve who have no clue. Well played CDOT.

95% chance that I-70 gets shut down in at least one direction this evening west of Morrison. 54% chance it gets shut down in both directions.

We've already proven years ago the maxim, "it is snowing, I-70 will close". It's 100%.

    Now we gamble on multipliers.

I would say you are psychic, but it was an easy call being early season and all.
Had a CDOT escort down most of VP this afternoon.

Do you expect more from CDOT?? Clowns had TWO separate ransomeware attacks this year alone. At least 1.5 million in damages....if that were my responsibility I would leave CO for good. NO excuse for that. But GVMT employee job security and all..

But I get it, they are too busy patting themselves on the back via awards (follow them on linkedin) to protect their infrastructure, much less provide quality information on the road conditions.

Probably the same crew that ran myspace

That has nothing to do with CDOT, that’s OITs fault. All IT in the state runs through them. Agencies have little control. CDOT just happened to be the target that fell first.

Not to mention OIT is about the most inept department in the State. Impossible to work with and never good results.

Fine, the clowns at CDOT apps/infra rely on OIT, which couldn't prevent the attack. They even called in the Natl Guard...

I'm pretty confident that there is a Dir of IT for CDOT, they should still quit..

I've stopped using the CDOT apps it historically has been worthless, lacked anything close to real time updates etc

If it's better now, I would give it another try.

    Google maps traffic seems decent

    No new money for roads.

Proposition 109, which would have required the state to borrow money to fix the roads, was defeated as 1,079,373 voters, or 61.2 percent, rejected it with 75 percent of the precincts reporting. Voting for it were 683,154, or 38.8 percent of the voters.

Proposition 110, which would have increased the state sales tax, was defeated by roughly the same, sizable margin. Nearly 60 percent of the voters –1,056,696– opposed it while 40.3 percent — 714,702 — favored it.

Surprised how badly those road initiatives failed. I voted in favor of 109.

    Rural repubs don't like taxes.

Northern Front Range is still pissy about the way the mass transit funding the paid for went down (i.e. no light rail to Boulder/Longmont/Broomfield).

And a bunch of people in Denver thought the measly 15% going to mass transit and alternative transit was inadequate.

We need money for transport but I'm not surprised it had a hard time getting through.

I voted for 110 but I'm not surprised they both lost handily.
