I flew out last Friday. Both economy and close-in lots (both East and West) were full. Had to park in the garage at $30/day. Ouch. TSA line went around the corner and into baggage claim. Crazy busy but weirdly security moved fast and I was through the line in 15 minutes.

How to enjoy a leaf peeping loop during peak weekend.

    - Leave at a casual 7:30am
    - Enjoy a traffic free I-70
    - Stop for crowd free breakfast in Vail
    - check out the Minturn to Copper loop
    - return on a traffic free I-70
    - laugh at the people stuck going westbound before Floyd Hill at 12:30

The security wait times FlyDenver.com shows are kind of a joke.

I've found them to be reasonably accurate (as much as I'd expect) in my somewhat limited experience.

the leef peeping crowd is a bit different than the average i70 user
more in line with people who try to pet wild animals in national parks and think seeing the troll in breckenridge is a big deal

Did similar. Out the door at 8am, 70 to Loveland Pass, then Copper to Minturn to Vail and home. A little slowing on the way back but not much and home before noon. Such beautiful colors in the afternoon.

Spent a couple days in Steamboat riding bikes, and got treated to the full shitshow on the way home... left around 6:40pm and didn't get home until 10:20pm. Ended up through Winter Park to avoid the Silverthorne -> Georgetown section.

285 coming back towards Kenosha Pass was nice and colorful yesterday afternoon too... looked to be lots of dark red for about 10 miles.

Are we referring to the leaves or the traffic?

wondering what kind of shit show it will be with this incoming storm. Driving to Fruita on Thursday evening, hopefully after the shit show has subsided.

Headed down to the airport tonight to avoid the shitshow tomorrow. I was talking to some cdot guys earlier and it sound like they are gearing up for it. Good luck with that. I’ll be on the 🏖️

A friend told me she drove down to Denver from Aspen today and it took like 6 hours. Is that possible?!

Indy Pass was closed preemptively for this storm. I'm guessing it was a little slower than usual with all the folks that planned to take the pass instead of 70.

This storm is slower to hit than I thought, taking awhile to wrap around, looks like brunt of it will be during commute times. Good luck Danno and all getting to Fruita, shit show in 3...2...

Based on the forecasts, I'd seriously consider aborting any mission up I70 for this evening. Try for tomorrow....

I just found out my new employee is driving to Aspen this afternoon. I told him I-70 should be sunny and dry.
