OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....
How did CDOT miss closing the Canyon Thursday night, ahead of this heavy cell? 108 people were stranded.

So what’s the current best way to GJ from the East for a car not towing a trailer? Independence? Cottonwood (gypsum to basalt)? If you make it to GWS can you still just go west or is that closed too? CoTrip is being intentionally vague it seems.

Coming from the east I'd go Independence Pass instead of Cottonwood, get through Aspen as early as possible to avoid the afternoon rush hour which can start as early as 1-2pm these days. And this time of year a traffic jam is possible any time of day if you're unlucky but the odds are much better in the morning if you're heading west.
I have to imagine you'll be able to jump on I-70 and continue WB via Glenwood but I don't know that for sure. I know some people who are going to drive from Aspen to GJ tomorrow so I'll edit this post and let you know if they get through.

Heard some idiot semi driver crashed into a car and got stuck on a curve on Indy Pass today...totally ignored all the easy to see and read signage saying NO VEHICLES OVER 35’. Why is that so fucking hard?

OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....
They had the plows out clearing debris on the west side of Eisenhower Tunnel yesterday. Took the new whip for a nice tour of Ute Pass. Surprisingly little traffic once I got off 9.

Per CDOT, 8’ of additional debris slid last night near MM122.5 and took out more of the parapet walls on both decks and damaged the road. Can’t see that reopening anytime soon

I wish CDOT didn't turn off the cameras in Glenwood when it is closed. I want to watch the people clean up the mess

Its sundae no one is working couple higher ups are standing around pointing and talking collecting OT the worker bees aren't allowed OT in the summer so no one is working a couple government worker waste of tax dollars in denver are trying to figure out if they should sub this out or if cdot is competent enough to do the repairs and they realize getting the money will take a week and reams of paper work polis is nowhere to be found of course but the two cdot clowns driving aimlessly all over summit county in there new massive 550 lifted 4 door cdot work truck are putting miles on tax dollars well spent
And yes as tax payers the cameras should be up so we can see govt ineptitude at work
you'd think that they would have a plan to help 100 people out of the canyon when shit like this happens instead they just left them there for night with all the terrorism training and emergency preparedness that millions and millions of dollars are wasted on a year you could get people out of a canyon and into a hotel room within a few hours wouldn't ya?
