Maybe it's because those guys albums weren't addled? Drugs, yeah, but addled? I think not, at least the stuff I've heard.

Never heard of lots of those on the list, but the best of many that I can think of not on the list is P-Funk. The first two Funkadelic albums (self-titled, and Free Your Mind) were recorded in one session while the whole band was on acid, and to me remain two of the best albums ever made. Tough to narrow this list to 50 albums.
