    Check your Rims

    Noticed a little 3mm crack in my rim when changing out a spoke last week.
    Didn't think much about it since the wheel was on my commuter bike and wasn’t going to get banged up on the trail.


    Fast forward to today and blammo, sounded like a gunshot going off.




    I've officially broken every part on a bike now.

    Ouch! Where was the crack? Longitudinal out of a spoke hole?

    yep right out of the spoke hole.
    I've never seen a rim fail that way, the crew at the LBS had a good laugh when I brought that in.

    I got a buddy who had catastrophic front wheel failure due to deferred maintenance, broke his neck, now he rocks the electric chair, fortunately he can still use the joystick
