Look, there’s no language police, so if that guy on Twitter want’s to call it a ‘black swan’ event, no one’s goin to stop him. But Trra doesn’t fit the definition of the term as described by the guy who actually coined the term.

OK, I guess we have to go with Rubin's opinion. Dude has 377 followers, so obviously he knows his shit.
If you really want to split hairs, then keep posting about it. But the LUNA/UST crash fits almost everything on this page.Last edited by stalefish3169; 05-13-2022 at 12:28 PM.

Cryto fails all the time. And the exact method of how it would fail was predicted from the start. Just because the scam was one of the more successful ones doesn’t change anything.
It was a speculative bubble that failed in the exact way that was predicted from the beginning:
My guy, Taleb, literally wrote the book:
But sure it’s ‘splitting hairs’ to use his definition. He fucking defined the term!

Here's another example of a mainstream outlet using the term to define what happened. https://www.coindesk.com/layer2/2022...tory-controls/
Just because you want to claim you're a genius, being a Monday morning quarterback doesn't make it so. Probably 90% of the people in this thread couldn't tell you more than one thing about LUNA/UST before a few days ago, if they even knew either existed at all.

JFC! Size has absolutely nothing to do with it!
It was predicted that it would fail, it inflated for two years, then failed exactly as predicted!
A ‘black swan’ event is supposed to be something that no one could have seen coming, like a white swan giving birth to a fucking black swan!

There have been no shortage of "most cryptocurrencies will fail" takes for years. Few winners + many losers.
The fucking founder of Terra said 95% of coins are going to fail! 95%! #karma
I see a black swan event as Berkshire Hathaway plummeting.

Coindesk is in no way a ‘mainstream’ outlet. That’s like saying Infowars is a mainstream outlet.
I am not claiming to be a genius, but I have linked to people describing the exact issues that would cause Terra’s downfall right from the start, so it seemed entirely predictable even if many, many people were suckered into it.

Well I think you're both right!
In other news, the full moon is coming and then up only. My astrologer says no problems after May 16.Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.

I'm still waiting to get out of bed for a $20k BTC. I know, dubious speculation.

Exactly a year ago I was into crypto for a hot minute right when Elon was going on SNL for Doge and all that. Then I realized the whales ie Big Banks can still manipulate the crypto market, rendering the 'decentralized utopia trope' meaningless.
How can a country make any financial plans for the future when the BTC fiat currency is all over the place?
Values will only stabilize once regulations are in place and the whole endeavor is rendered moot.
What am I missing?
