The International Monetary Fund’s board urged El Salvador to strip #bitcoin of its status as a legal currency due to its large risks, highlighting a major obstacle for the nation’s efforts to get a loan from the institution.

So far the consensus vibe from the BTC crowd is laughter. Time will tell if that's the correct response...and of course whether or not the BTC volcano bond is oversubscribed.

Who is the Bitcoin Crowd? Asking for a Friend.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Ummm wouldn't 5/10xing your money imply dividing its value in half?

What if they are right? Maybe, maybe not.

I know if I was on the fence I'd buy some just in case.

    Well put together and explained.

If you are dumb enough to pay 100 grand for a jpeg that's on you.

People want status. Most people here have iphones and mac's, they cost way more and most ppl use them the same as other devices that cost a fraction.

Same w cars, houses, skis. Everything.

Who cares at the end of the day. Just talked w a 70 yr old guy who lives in a tent outside mammoth all winter w no heat. He's perfectly content, enjoys reading and gave me a recent essay he wrote.

Point being you need very little to live a rich life.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that we've seen maybe a few percentage points a most of what NFTs will eventually be able to deliver. But everyone wants to judge them based off of the very early iterations.

Memba when the Internetz AKA World Wide Web was a new and possible passing fad? About 1990 or so.

In 30 years we may have an idea if Crypto is a PPF.

I remember when we thought the internet was all about paying AOL per minute of use so that you could help your kid with his school project. Turns out it's 90% about free porn and buying cheap Chinese crap. Which is to say, nobody really knows where new tech is going to end up and you're just as likely to be the next Ted Turner as you are the next Bill Gates. But wherever it goes, it's likely to be heavily weighted toward porn, scams, and cheap shit.
However many are in a shit ton.
