Cool Wydaho/MT touring spots in April?
So life slows down for myself and the lady (no naked pics, just found out she's apparently registered here...) come April. We're hoping to take off on a long weekend trip to do some touring and see some different mountains. Nothing extreme, prefer to keep it non technical. Wouldn't mind a hut/yurt but sleeping in the car or a motel is certainly fine too. We're Eastern Idaho based, so looking to keep the drive time within about 5 hours. Any spots come to mind that we should check out? Sawtooths? Red Lodge? Too early for Beartooth? Any cool ideas to research would be appreciated.

Have you ever toured in the Centennials?

You have so many options within your striking distance. Have you thought about some tours outside West Jellystone? The girls at FreeHeel and Wheel would be happy to share beta.

The 'Tooths will have snow for months. Yellowstone is also a great spot - several great spots right from the road or highway. Beehive Basin up near Big Sky is always a good option.

Grab a copy of Tom Turiano's Greater Yellowstone exploration book- http://books.google.com/books/about/...d=ng7nAAAACAAJ
That always inspires me.
And we have been wanting to check out the yurt up in the Tobacco Roots- http://www.belllakeyurt.com/ Love the terrain up there for mountain biking (Curly Lake highline), wonder how the snowpack will be by then?
And have you been to the Lost River Range? Dean Lords has some beta archived on that wild place over on his blog: http://eastidahooffpiste.wordpress.com/
We've been a few times- feels like going to the Karakorum.

I've heard great things about Downing Mountain Lodge. Don't think it's too gnarly if you don't want it to be: http://downingmountainlodge.com/word...kiing-getaway/

Beartooths are a great option right now. Bens yurt and cabin are sweet. Bell lake is also pretty awesome. Centennials has good touring from hellroaring yurt but there are quite a few sleds around if that bothers you. Good advice all around and April is usually a great time of year. Don't think you can go wrong
