Totally agree. It's up for a Golden Globe as Best Pic but I'm still surprised it hasn't received a little more press. Best Ron Howard movie since Stand By Me . . .

The movie that easily surpasses the duo of Grand Prix/Le Mans as the best movie "about" auto racing, ever. Sure, there are overdone moments, but, that's nitpicking. Of course, the whole rivalry may be a dramatic fabrication, but, what a moment at a time that is long lost to F1, pre Ecclestone and his utter decadence.
Visual casting was superb. And, this may be the only Hollywood biopic when they casted a really good looking young Hollywood star that still isn't as good looking as the real life star. Teddy Mayer was creepingly accurate. (Once shared an airline seating with him to Indy. Short story.)

I generally like Ron Howard movies, but knew I would have reservations on this one. The acting is splendid, as is recreation of the era; but I'm just not interested in car racing, don't consider it "heroic," and don't get into the rivalries.
