there's actually much better going on in Tahoe. That was me trying to get something from my back door, then changing plans and going much deeper, then getting stymied en route by sticky glop and then cliffs and no snow so i ended up on a wsw face to get back.
things are still pretty rough though

middle fork along hwy 2 skied well this past weekend. looks like a cold front is about to hit montana this week and produce some snow. there were some buried facets about 4 feet deep that were failing in the low 20 range in a few CTs and ECTs and da winds were definitely a'blowin this weekend. also of note the new snow/wind transplanted snow was reacting in the upper single digits, but we saw no signs of instability while skiing. of course, we made terrain choices to go along with what our pits were telling us, ie, mellow. that being said there were plenty of safe options where we were skiing and fun was had. winter has arrived in whitefish! they b sportin a 60-70" base if you need more convincing and if you need a partner in the area I hear kevino has the week off

I was at Steamboat Resort last week and the cover is pretty damn good for this time of year. They opened up a new area while I was there and got some powder. Took a day off the slopes and went snowmobiling and the guide talked about how unstable conditions currently are.
