2013/14 Inland PNW thread
Oh baby, Lookout’s opening was tasty!!
Was out there with crew of 7 or so! The first 4-5 runs were killer cold smoke supported by a nice firm foundation below! No core shots and honestly, I rarely found anything below, even as the liquid courage pushed us further into questionable terrain!
Didn’t snap pics of those runs because it was full on charging!!
Grabbed a couple later!
Ahhh the feeling
First chair up stoke
Goats performed perfectly
Smiles all around
Parking lot scene was full on with bbq brats and pocket beers for the lift!
‘Twas good for the soul!!

It's been dumping in the Methow all day. ~10 inches on the valley floor. Hopefully some of this has made it's way east to you guys.

It got up to 33 at 6,000 feet at Schweitzer. Regardless, there ain't no way they're spinning the lifts before their planned opening day. At least, that's the historical model. Thanksgiving weekend will be the start unless they break form and I seriously doubt that.

I've been practicing holding my breath in preparation for the 20 minute Covid Can ride on Silver Mountain's gondola this season.

Lookout was pretty prime today for the first 1.5 hours, however, it warmed up quick and got pretty set up!!
Regardless Goats crushed the 3D heavy consistency later on in the day!
Good to see LO enforcing the mask policy — come on all, keep it on and let’s ski all year!

Schweitzer was pretty good this weekend. More than the WROD open, lots of sharks lurking though. Off piste on Saturday was pretty good, 2 - 6" of mid density pow over a firmish rain crust. It's thin but significantly more coverage than mid-December last year. A few brave souls toured and skied off the triple and Great Escape. Looked questionable on the triple (lots of rocks showing), Great Escape looked like it had okay coverage.
Got warm and the mid-density pow became death cookies and not fun on Sunday. There was also a significant sun crust. Not enough cover to ski in the shaded trees where the snow was not warmed up. Honestly seems like a good thing, should be a really nice base in a lot of spots. Groomer was better Sunday however. Made it till noon each day, not enough terrain or soft snow to keep me interested. Lines were a tad long but manageable.
I predict that they are more or less 12" of dense new snow away from opening quite a bit more terrain. The coverage is pretty dang good all things considered.
