2013/14 Inland PNW thread
Jackass was on point this weekend with Sunday being unreal. Report was 6”, lol more like a foot +.
Weapons of choice:
Got a late start and found no one had traversed into happy jack yet pounded gem, lucky me.
Rolled a few deep untracked laps in the chair 2 basin. Found chair line also untouched so punched it. Rolled into TP trees for mid thigh untouched deepness. Hit gate 1.75 for moAr goodness then bounced to chair 4 to catchup with some rippers. On my way hit Eureka trees that had loaded in crotch deep, wow!
Rolled to meadows for a shit load of amazing turns.
No action photos as nobody, my self included wanted to stop. Lol.
Lot of non Silver locals as they all seemed to keep to the main runs leaving all of the real good terrain choices untouched for a lot of the day.

Anybody hit the Creel sale today? I had to resist really hard not to be there before doors opened for the BG Tour 108 in 184 they had on the $299 sale. Anybody snag those? My wallet doesn’t need any more pummeling

Killer day out with the homies at Jackass slaying corn and slush!
Likely will be my closer; what a season it’s been.
- Started with a bang
- 8 weeks of high pressure sucked
- BBI JA was the highlight
- spring hit and biking turned on
- last weeks storm gave a nice reset; it’s good to see a decent snowpack up there.

Pretty good closing day for me. Fun slushy snow and perfect weather. Hopefully next year is better than what we got this year.

Snowpack in the Stevens area is still on point. It looks like mid winter up there, so keep your touring sticks waxed.

FYI - For those of us who frequent Spokane Alpine Haus for ski tuning/mounting/etc., Fred is no longer working there. I don't know where he's going to land but he's out at SAH.

Fred, I used to work with him at Lou Lou’s. Guy used to go rappell off the sacred heart parking garage at lunch.

Wow, interesting.
I am not sure who he once was, but the Fred in recent years was pretty terrible. Fucked up countless mounts for people I ski with. One of them allowed water in the ski. It delaminated after half a season — she went back to AH to let them make it right. Fred (who mounted it) proceeded to lie about his fuck up; even attempted to cover it up with helicoils. Per my friend was cleared tuned during most of her interactions with him (stunk of booze).
While he is gone now; if you’re in Spokane go to Micah at the Creel. He is such a stand up guy, ultimately gave the friend in the story above a brand new pair of skis and took care the warranty that alpine haus refused to deal with.
Yeesh, drama.

^^ That's never been my experience with Fred. He's always done a great job for me and is an excellent tuner. Generally, I tune my own skis but if I need a base weld or grind and structure, I go to him. Never have I seen or sensed him being under the influence and I've NEVER heard of anyone having mounting problems or other issues. And no, not mounting my own skis since I'm relatively certain I'd screw them up.
As for Micah and Sports Creel, I concur as to their competence and personal touch. I've been going there for over 50 years for as much as I can. I've sent numerous people there and it's the only place my wife will go. TJ takes great care of her for her equipment. In total, I prefer Sports Creel but they've been so damn busy, it's sometimes hard to get work done in a timely manner. And as noted, I've never had a problem with Fred so he's been the choice for me.

Good to hear, I’ve never personally worked with Fred. But there have been 3 specific stories (all from this year) revolving around botched mounts from Fred.
Now, I get it. If you mount enough skis; your bound to get a spinner or a dimple in the base. But make it right. In this case he didn’t and actually went further to cover it up.
