Wow, wicked. Looks like the south side of Spokane four or five years ago. Total warzone. Stay safe!

Hopefully no one got hurt in this one. That's gnarly.

Miraculously he did not. He was in his master bathroom at the time which is on the right side of that pic. That’s his living room and kitchen area under the tree. Split the house in half.

After that there was trees falling left and right and I was just running from house to house helping people get out while also watching the sky for more falling trees.
Could not leave my neighborhood due to trees down everywhere so I called in my work crew to come help cut a path. While we were doing so several other trees came down in the process.

Good thing he was in the bathroom. I would guess there was some underwear soiled when that came down.

Unofficially they were around 70, the big issue was the fact that we just had a ton of rain with a big warm up. Majority of the trees uprooted. Some broke midspan but most uprooted.

better sharpen your edges if you're going up today to enjoy the sun. I was planning on ripping some groomer trenches before work but all my boards need a tune, not every ski day is better than work

Silver is closed again today and has even called it for tomorrow. Lookout pass closed as well. I guess I'll just go to work?

My unofficial report on Schweitzer is that is was VERY firm on-piste and so firm off-piste that even a ski pole tip had difficulty penetrating the surface.

The plus? The new snow was barely lost and we now have a VERY solid base.

Can confirm solid skating conditions yesterday--tough call between hockey skates and crampons off piste, though, as the rain crust seemed typically about 15-20 mm. Maybe not thick enough for the skates. Unreal how shiny the place got, though.

Punching through with a pole seemed to show soft stuff below, but between rain and wind filling every low spot the top is smooth and mostly hard and slick. Rock coverage is nice but this layer looks to be a buried problem for a while.

Schweitzer groomers were surprisingly good. I was expecting the worse with mist low and freezing mist higher. But the snow was actually good so we kept skiing. The mist turned to light snow and it turned out to be a really fun day. Off piste is a no go, though.

Fun groomers at Jackass N today. Anything other than that was the snow quality equivalent of GG Allin’s personality.

I believe he was referring to Mr. Allin's given name. Among other things. Pretty apt description as far as the off-piste.

Yesterday I got just the one normal run in before hanging with my nephew on the magic carpet. But on my one chance I managed to miss the transition between groomed and ungroomed--I think my fillings survived. If I can work up the courage I'll check tomorrow to be sure. Barely managed to stay upright and not run over a kid re-entering the run, though, so it felt like a win. No marks in the ice.
