    ha, well put!

just rated this thread 1.5 on a scale of 10.

PC: Monday - Puking started ~ 2 PM. Headed up to Summit House after 3 PM and made 3 circuits on Bonanza lift. Silky smooth, Ego-builder.

Still coming down hard at 7000 ft. Plenty of moisture in place and the Arctic blast coming in should fill in the gaps & blanks and allow more terrain to open up.

flow favored the eastside. (eyewitness report is 9in at the empire lodge. expecting over 11 up high) more here than cottonwoods. heading up to ride empire/McConkey with a couple non-mags.

If you're the same height as the snowpack, you take 2nd tracks whenever you can get em.

If you're taller than the snowpack, you maximize fresh tracks to promote propper beard icing.

Nice shots and thanks for the update. One vote for consolidating these threads though, not sure if anyone on the westside would prefer not to know what is going on on the other side of the giant impassable uh, pass, and vise versa, but doubt it.

In the long run I'm envisioning a thread dedicated more to "Best PC restaurants" and Deer Valley's "groomer of the day" than actual BC Observations.

    Think: Mountain Express e-magazine

i'm staying put on this side.

Also, observed that the East-facing slopes had ~ 10" on the stumps at 8 - 9000 ft.

Snowbasin fared well in the last storm with 19". Heard (from Meats of Evil) Sunday was over the head blower awesomeness, but I had to work. Went up on Monday, it sucked. Wind had pretty much destroyed any good leftovers, leaving behind lots of crusty, unpredictable pockets of deep snow or ice, which you couldn't tell which was which until your skis either bounced off it or sunk into it. 4 runs of that and my legs were fucking smoked. Oh yeah, it was also -10 up there. One of my runs was over on Strawberry (just the in-and-out since it's closed) and it was pretty terrible. Heard a loud "whuumpf" under the snow pack, but it nothing cracked (to mellow of an angle probably). The snow on top was super sticky and made you walk through it and wherever the snow guns were blowing was bullet proof ice. The groomers were pretty nice though. No one was up there so it was perfect cordoroy for every lap, which with the snow being somewhat icy made groomer ripping fast as hell.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

I was down at City Creek and Temple Sq last night for the lights and sights. Looks like SLC downtown got more snow than we did overnight on the Eastside. Inversion... it was thick and heavy w/ moisture.

What fell on the Eastside at 7000 ft is pure fluff. Swept ~ 3 inches off my Jeep which was parked during the last 24hrs.
I will check out the "upstairs" this afternoon.

Good sized avalanche ripped out of Dutches today on the line known as "Hanky Pankey" aprox 100ft across and 2 ft deep. ended up stepping down and sliding all the way to the flats

edit to add: Skier, remotely triggered.

Friends went. Reported 4 course for $44 (or close to that) was too much eat. Their Filet and NY Strip excellent. Sides were just OK.

Road to Sochi Freestyle and Pipe finals this Fri and Sat. Saw some of qualifiers practicing in half-pipe today AM from the 1st Time lift. They were very impressive already. Should be an excellent comp to see. Expect crowded parking lot (as MLK Wkend, too).

Also, i made a mistake; OAR is playing After Saturdays comp about 9pm.

Grub steak is indeed very good, with the off-main prices being a big reason it's a favorite for locals, but if ur going on a date trying to get your noodle wet, make it prime. ;-)
