    PSA: Climbing Skin Material... $30

I saw this on CL today. (not mine, I swear).

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/spo/4159059660.html

They will cut to your dims... no glue though. Looks like a good deal if you have the glue and hardware off of some old skins.

I saw this too and am curious if this is cool DIY option or a major PIA, Is re-gluing skins easy? Is the hardware easy to mcgyver?

I think it pencils even if you have to buy new hardware. I had them send me a sample, but it's hard to tell whether it will hold up as well as the Ascension material even though it looks real similar. I'll try to take a few pictures of the sample and an Ascension skin and put them up here.

That post has been recurring for months. After buying the glue, applying it, riveting hardware...meh gets expensive and time consuming. Skins can generally be found pretty cheap on stp/clymb/etc.

Glue is 30 so is harware unles u rig somthin from ace.
So all in 90 max plus time for new skins that are acension material? For ur uber fats. Sounds ok to me.
Material is almost 5 feet wide so I hope the quote to come in cheaper.
Helps if you have a large format cutting table to cut to ski size and I do.
    Yeas glueing skins blows.

not a bad idea for making little skins for young Owen - I could buy a bunch and never have to worry about scrounging for used skins to fit new skis every year while he's growing.

might be good for making disposable thong skins for low angled work, too.

^ They actually work well according to my boarder friends. But yes, extremely overpriced... when I first looked them up and saw that price I didn't understand... It would still be overpriced for half that considering you could find a used split board/split your own/lean to ski and buy a used touring rig for $~400

You could chop old skis with a SkilSaw, make straps for the up and get old skins for about $8.

And surprise surprise they are incapable of communicating. Guess they don't really want to sell the material.
