Helmets are cool.
My wife had a bad concussion wearing a helmet last March.
She's fine now.
Probably wouldn't have been w/o a helmet

oh but I assure you they are in fact, bumps. tough angle for the camera to really get a good look at em. no helmet needed there, or anywhere really. solid body mechanics/technique means no falling, anywhere at anytime. shit you got those long steel edged foot extensions on. tough to fall with 180+cm foot extensions with super solid casts for footwear
would be more reasonable to walk about in our daily lives wearing a helmet. tripping on foot is so much more likely
glad your wife's ok mike!

Solid technique won't help when that hidden log, rock or stump sends you flying.
That's why I always helmet up.

I can't believe this went on for 7 pages! Why not leave Rog alone? I've been skiing with a bunch of guys (and a girl or two!) for the past 20 years or so, folks in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Some of us wear hats and some wear helmets - we don't talk about it, we just go out and have fun. Time to end this thread and move on...

Say you want to not wear a helmet or not use snow tires or insure your car or sell custom heat molded boot liners that you talk your customer out of custom heat molding or any one of a number of things you could just do it and not tell anyone
OR you could come on a skiing web site and tell people who almost all will disagree with you
rog always likes to chose the latter so yes folks could or should move on from this thread BUT it would just happen on the next thread
Every exchange with Rog is like wrestling with a pig, you both get dirty but the pig enjoys itLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

This site would be worthless without Rog.
My guess is that the OP simply wants him to be around for as long as possible, hence the desire for him to wear a helmet.
It's all about the love people.

Like I said earlier, this thread deserves to be posted for several reasons...
It's a heart wrenching true tale of two skiers that both wish they wore helmets. Which I have been a believer in for forty years.
It has several mags involved.
It has some useful, tho spammy information others may benefit from.
That said, if Rog, or whomever, doesn't want to wear one, no problem. I respect their rights (but still think it's foolish). And I am sure there is some aspect of my life others may find foolish, too. I am not preaching, but simply presenting this very well done piece... take it or leave it for what it is.
Helmet or not, I'm hoping no one has any injuries and a great season.Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

if i'm skiing in an area that may have thin cover or hidden things under the surface I slow waaaaaaay down. in fact the last time I had a ski pop off was 2006 skiing at stowe off the bench. the summit stake was at barely 40 inches so I knew the woods were just barely in. I skied defensively as it was the smart thing to do. when I did in fact find that hidden log under the snow, my ski went right under it, but I was skiing slowly enough to let my leg go back and the ski popped off.
know where yer skiing, know how much snow it takes to cover shit up, and ski to suit the conditions. many folks just ski and don't think about these things
ski smart.
bd, they are moguls. I don't catch a bit of air skiing groomers.
hey WWC, come by and say hi sometime!
