Tempting for my '85 L. I'm not sure it's worth a 2500mi round trip though.... I wish you were closer.

That's super cool! Did not know that existed. Need to check it out.

Anyone have a suggestion for a 1986 Syncro tire? Not looking to spend a fortune, just wanting to get it running to move it.

Westfalia, Type II, Bus, Vanagon, and all air cools!

I thought of this thread when I saw this there is some tiny possibility that this old girl is not listed online but still seems the seller is wise to the market asking 32K Edit 34k; I wouldn’t actually know but I think these are kinda rare

Air cooled to my best guess.

It’s near my place so I could help facilitate more photos, inspect or buy on the off chance someone wants it.

There are obviously not so hidden corrosion issues but I’m not sure that’s so uncommon. Body is pretty much in “driver” condition to my estimate, looks cool from 10 feet away. Looks expensive if you cared to fix that rust.

The VW, not the subie; subie is not for sale

Found some old photos digging through a box in the basement tonight. The feeling of making your destination without calamity in both of these was beautiful once you actually arrived… especially when the destination was often across the country.

I’m back in the game! Picked up this ‘85 TinTop today... my 3rd Bus/Vanagon in the past 30 years. Like an old friend already!

I’m looking forward to building out a camping interior and hitting some music with my wife and/or my teen kiddo this Summer. Stoked.

Thanks! Thinking of an interior build similar to this so I can prep/cook/wash-up at the doorway under an awning… like the early Westy interiors.

I did go meet the owner, checked the Sunrader out, and drove it but it got bid up to $1000 over asking and sold for $31,000. I’d rather let this Vanagon bleed me out slowly for 1/5th the initial buy in.

I have a blue '85 tin top that's in pretty much the same condition as that one. I've been musing over an engine swap, or maybe making it electric, but for now it's just sitting around, appreciating. I look forward to seeing what you do with yours, so keep us updated!

First couple of nights back sleeping in a van with my wife. Got racks on, a portable diesel heater rigged, and Bluetooth tunes wired in. Waking Up State.

    Nice!

You probably know this, but I didn't...because there was no internet, but run phosphate free coolant. Those early water cooled were finicky.

Yeah, we were about a half hour from Nelson BC when the shit started to hit the fan. That road trip didn't work out so well, but certainly could have been worse...we broke down in Nelson!

Not a bad stop to breakdown, for obvious reasons, and lots of old vw enthusiasts. One visit there in my microbus i had an old fellow approach me and told me all about my 67 micro. Literally my bus as it used to be his. Told him the story how i got it and the newer 1600 i put in it etc etc. Later saw a split window beetle in one of the mechanic garages

First Vanagon trip complete and successful. Brought her back from purchase in Utica, NY to home in Southwest Harbor, ME without a hiccup.
