Anyone buy a ticket for that tesla powered 66 split window? Thing is dialed with sound system and disc brakes. Between the E motor and discs it should stop so thats a nice upgrade from the og splities

Will we ever see the new e bus hit the American market? I feel like it’s been hyped for years now.

Do you really think gas cars are going to disappear in the next 30 years? I don't.

Not disappear, but sales and variety will narrow, and fuel stays cheap. All because of the amount of e cars that enter the market.

I guess people will still have their classics and they will need fuel. Gov't seem focused on getting rid of them. Paris accord has a 2030 deadline theyre aiming for

We put thousands of miles on a 72 with a cracked frame, sagged in the middle. That pic made me think of that. Salveged the 1600cc motor for my 67 splitty. Thats all that was left of the 72 worth anything

A little too much acid when I drove away from that last show!

Honestly surprised the roof pillars are supporting the weight. Maybe it’s photoshop?

The type 3 frame is super strong. Check out some crash test videos. I believe there was a saying "For the type 3, the crumple zone is the other vehicle." The impact forces on one's insides appear to be... significant, however.

I carried 1500# of stone on a pallet in mine once, when I was using it as a work vehicle.

decision time, well, not now but soon.

blue is down. late sept was on a short trip for local hike with wife and dogs. stopped running on the way up, the motor shut down hard. ok, I figure the fuel pump, nope. filter/line clogged, nope. relay/grounds/wire, nope. AFM box, nope..... etc. so far no luck, I can get pump to start at key turn and fires then dies, pump looses power when the starter dis-engages. I looked at it in the garage for a few weeks (ok, months) while it was cold, finally started tinkering back with it. used computer on the way and fingers crossed this will do it. if not next step is try and re-solder all joints in one of the computers and throw that at it.

even if I get this thing running, it makes no power. I think 68hp on a good day downhill, wind at your back, and a full moon. going up hill is a loosing battle and takes the charm out of it when you're holding up 25 deep up a canyon.

    so.....

    - I keep it stock and only run it in summers around town
    - sell it and move on (prob not as dam near zero rust and min $ in it)
    - subi swap with EJ20 (imprezza / wrx motor)
    - TDI swap to diesel
    - or?
