HERE WE GO... A VW VAN TALE

I've always posted in ^^^ that thread, but this one seems to be gaining traction...

My son and I have to be in Orlando in the end of October.

Flights from SLC to Orlando = $350 RT x 2

Flights from Jackson to Orlando = $585.00 RT x 2

    2300 miles @ 18+ miles per gallon @ let's say 4.00/gal. = $511.00 one way.

There's an active leak- I'm loosing just about a quart of oil per tank. I definitely leave a mark when I park. But my 1984 1.9L Campmobile couldn't be running better. Man, it really goes. The oil leak happened driving home fully loaded from Cape Hatteras a few years ago

I'm contemplating a big road trip despite my oil leak. It would be fun and Blaze and I wouldn't have to pay for lodging if we can poach the parking lot at the hotel.

I have some time available before ski season...

Oil cooler gaskets? I had to deal with those fairly regularly.

Labcabin, peruse this forum. Their search function operates a little better than this one. Tons of info on suby conversions.

Westfalia, Type II, Bus, Vanagon, and all air cools!

Went for an authentic German dinner tonight and found this guy out front.

Might be the first time I have seen this as a crew cab in person as opposed to online.

Just came up on this guy cruising out of PG County up towards Annapolis. Just about dawn so still low light. I think he has anti radar stealth paint.

I had a '65 Deluxe exactly like that blue one, but in better shape. I put a 1776 cc in it and had an external cooler as well as an updated doghouse. Would cruise at 60 down the highway and never let me down. I left the low gears on it and it would crawl up FS roads to many places that would usually only see 4x4s. Many road trips camping in that thing.
