haha...that's like demanding powder after 10:am in tahoe.
There just fucking aren't any, really.
well, here at this turn, at least.
My biggest "more money than god lottery winner' fantasy would be to have a few thousand trucks bring us VW sized chunky rocks from southern Utah...
The good news is that this particular dirt has a good amount of clay, when it dries after a winter of snow, it will be possible to get close to vertical on it without it turning into dust. Unlike a lot of our dirt. At least that's what it 'feels' like.

So what you're saying is you're just building in the wrong place.

Fuck it, if it's clean dirt than that's what you got. Nothing is more lame than concocted rock gardens. Rung whatcha brung. I was just messin

Screw it, I'm gonna put in a bunch of sweet, 10" tall truck tire water bars right in the middle of the turn.

It's gonna be a while, I am their only trail/bike employee. Doing all of his with volunteers, hopefully next summer I will get a budget for a crew.
I might have to get everyone on here to write a few emails to the manager/investors next summer...

Reign-X again. Or the hardtail(s). Or may have a fatbike setup by then. You can have my TRc when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Give me a heads-up on the when - would be good to ride witcha.

    Definitely. I promise I won't t-bone (another) boulder.
Thinking about a TRC frame to make into my 'light' 27.5, so the Altitude can always sport the 'heavy' fork n' wheels n' such....

Another great volunteer day, a bunch of furloughed park trail crew folks came out! They said that 'these weren't anything like what we work on in the Park'...
Nice little wheelie drop to banked speed check (off of a 30% grade short drop)

working towards a very large banked turn, hopefully with a gapper/drifter 'high line' that will be above the main line..

hand digging is a bitch, but i sure do like the results.

So, we took this internet advice today...

looks different today, this will be a screamer turn. No brakes, just...rail

Best part about a ski area trail network...i will have sprinklers set up off of the snow making system to make (almost) everyday a 'brown pow' day....

This will be the Bikini Beach Booter, (between the trees)

    Thanks for coming out, GTDrew!

Is that stuff gonna get all messed up on low snow years from the hillclimb mess every spring?

I've seen a lot of videos of that event and those guys move almost as much dirt as snow sometimes.

No, totally different side of the hill.
Lift service *likely* won't happen until '15, we are still working on some permitting, trail, and financing issues. But hopefully this will give me next season to build 1-2 other, longer trails before we figure the next phase out.
What we really need is an angel investor....but what ski area not selling real estate doesn't!

SLOPPY ol' day up on the King. Blech. But my 'A' Team of two showed up, and here's what's cookin'. Not bad for three hours or so in the snain.
This turn is gonna be a FAST left hander, coming off that water tower turn. That goes into the 'Tombstone' Turn (fence is what separates the ski area form the cemetary), which I plan to have a 6-8 foot wall ride, with a little gap that you air over...inbetweeen the gaps, great view of...tombstones and graves! Perfect.

from there, we have to scrub speed...quick. this will be a little drifter roll, into a steeply banked left hander, that will bank up against the cemetery again.

    lookback at the sweeper section:

    more to come.

Still haven't decided what to do with these really steep turns...any thoughts?
(they were for a temporary, one time only race, but i would like to use them if I can)

    (bottom of those two turns)

This zone could be used for some 'big' structural/expert only' features, I suppose. Ladder drop?
