Odds are neither the Californian or the Texan were born there, but why stop stupid culture war stereotypes when it can make money for people?
every mountain in the PNW can get rain - if you haven't skiied in it you are highly selective, or ignorant.

literally every single "texan" or "californian" is no more than one generation removed from either illinois or new york state, the actual source of all "americans." the "californian" enjoys snow but subliminally wishes it were stevia. the "texan" enjoys snow but subliminally wishes it were cocaine. both are terrified of rain because it would ruin these ephemeral objects of desire, and thereby destroy the consciousness of their imaginary identity. Few Realize This
Serious reply - skiing out of Seattle can be kind of a sweet deal because it seems like you're pretty much always going against traffic, but I've never tried cutting through Bellevue on the 405, which is what I'd have to do to ski Stevens... which seems like a terrible idea. Do people do that? Are there people who live in, say, Shoreline but really really love Crystal for some reason? I do not get up before 6AM for inbounds skiing so perhaps I'm just not core enough or something. Sidenote, the number of people in this region for whom work chains them to EST and 6AM commutes is cruel and unusual and I do not condone it.

plenty came from oklahoma and the midwest. the iowegians used to have a huge annual picnic in long beach.
course, plenty of old PNWers (pre software era) came from somewhere overseas with a stint in the midwest too.

fwiw, I've only been around Seattle since 1981 when it was still a fun, affordable, art saturated, best kept secret in skiing, dumpy seaport and not from California.

Every part of the country has this "I'm actually from here" style chauvinism... it's always at least a little ridiculous unless you're actually native. But nowhere I've been is it more intense - or, I kinda hate to say it, more justified - than the PNW though. Having your city get run through by techie androids produces a palpable kind of heartache. Way of the whole country really but it's up to 11 here.
Anyway though, point is I will ski anything so long as I don't have to drive through Seattle/Bellevue at 7AM.

Back in california the local hipsters used to flip smart cars on their roof... hella funnier to find an upside down smart car in its parking space on the street than just finding a spray painted car. Also, there is no room in california anymore. Its all full, and we are all priced out. thats why we like seattle- its affordable and has lots of room for suburban sprawl!!
I hear tacoma is up and coming though....
