    Smile TR: 9.23.13 It's been a minute

Until this morning, I was scared that maybe I was going to have to ski a nasty patch of old ice to get my September turns in. Turns out today would be a powder day. The fast moving storm that passed over the state started off wet and warm before transitioning to a windier NW flow. With the 80mph winds building some large drifts up high, I knew just the place to catch a few smooth turns on the new snow.

These leaves were green four days ago.

As I drove higher the scenery was less colorful.

Here are a couple action shots from the video to prove I actually did something up there. The only rocks I hit were skiing out on the road. But then again, I know where most of the rocks are up there. Everywhere!

    The video:

    Thanks for looking!

Hope for winter turns soon. Well played
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Aw Doug, you make me so happy, so proud, watching you ski. And postholing, seeing you posthole is the best! It's like everything is right with the world. Would be nice to be following those steps up and up. Loved the vid, and music.
    Represent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm seriously stoked. Not that way for another month, but it'll come. It'll come.

    Bring it, Mir!!!

I boiled my thermometer, and sure enough, this spot, which purported to be two thousand feet higher than the locality of the hotel, turned out to be nine thousand feet LOWER. Thus the fact was clearly demonstrated that, ABOVE A CERTAIN POINT, THE HIGHER A POINT SEEMS TO BE, THE LOWER IT ACTUALLY IS. Our ascent itself was a great achievement, but this contribution to science was an inconceivably greater matter.
