Exactly. Should loosen up the soil for digging trail on Snow King, though.

With the angle of the sun, i just hope the snow sticks around. Last weeks snow melted on the tetons. Its definately starting to get cold here though, thats for sure. Like it said It snowed on the tetons last week and It seems as theres a ton of moisture in the atmosphere this past month, both in colorado and wyoming. i just hope it stays that way for winter.

Although, i would enjoy biking until mid october, colorado and wyoming are already getting snow consistently (few inches a week at high altitudes) this early in the fall. And it looks to continue next week.

Trust us, you DON'T want any of this to stick around. Early snow like this usually just turns into deadly mank. Better to have it all melt, and accumulate in at least another month, IMO.

Ullr - please let us have fall. The kind of fall where temps get into the 50's and 60's.

I think the winter of 2001 in Jackson was the first year I realized how bad big early snow could actually be. That winter was scary.

I'm with you. I seem to catch shit among the younger crowd around Jackson when I express my interest in another month + of Indian summer/fall. They don't get it. We have a long season regardless of when you can start/end skiing. I'd argue fall holds a ton of awesome opportunities in the mtns. Beautiful time of year too. A little snow here and there is great but we don't need it from a safety standpoint.

From the Schwerty fun point of view...I want fall fishing! Not winter fishing in October and November. I guess I am now in that mtn town crowd that loves the winter but doesn't need it to start in Oct and last til mid may.

The warmblooded rents are just hoping "winter" holds off until they leave the area next week.

Woody is calling for a warm up Saturday through Wednesday so no worries on this sticking around and becoming a deep instability. Get after it folks!

ya, 'so it begins' with a big storm forecast being posted, followed up by barely a skiff. Pretty stupid-ass way to start a stoke/conditions thread, just sayin'...
