Buddy got 3 flats on a ride. The tires to blame?
Spesh fastrak 2.0. 1 snakebite on the rear with like 35psi. Felt plenty hard and he's not a big guy. A couple possible punctures on the front. I'm guessing it's the tires. Doesn't seem to be the rim or sharp thing in the tires. 26er hard tail. We were riding over some rocks, but I'm not gonna play the "so rocky" pissing match, it's Missoula.
So, just looking for confirmation and for a deal on some 2.1 and 2.35 BBGs for him.
TIA.

It's probably just jesus punishing anyone who hangs out with you.
I mean if they couldn't see bad fortune coming it's obviously going to take some divine intervention to get the point across.Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp

Yeah soft sidewall tires will flat easier. Might want to calibrate your hand pressure sensor though - usually if you're pinch flatting that much its not enough pressure.

Pinner 2.0 tires can't handle the Missoula chunk.
I've got some NIB Maxxis DHF 2.35 I'd sell for $25ea plus shipping.

there is this thing called tubeless.
you can set up a bike for the cost of 2 suitable tires, to used tubes, and some sealant.

Flat tires are caused by rider error.
The tires are not the flat.
The flat is the flat.
Try and keep up.

Your friend probably doesn't know how to put tubes in correctly. I bet they are pinched

Last flat I got was totally my fault. Dropped pressure too low, got a pinch flat going too fast over a rocky section. Barely stayed upright. Doesn't matter if you have big beefy DH casing, that can still happen. I'm tubeless now. I know the pressure is too low when my spokes start making funny noises and I can feel the rim hitting stuff.
And then if you don't properly check the inside of the tire and rim and diagnose the cause of the flat, chances are you'll get a second one right away because whatever caused the first flat is still in the tire.
This is like bike riding 101. Or maybe something below that, like bicycle maintenance for the mentally challenged 8 year old girl.

Tires to blame?
No...prolly just luck to blame.
But at 35 psi (dependin on sidewall), he's prolly getting pinch flats if he's riding over lots of roots and rocks."The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it; a jealous, possesive love that grabs at what it can." by Yann Martel from Life of Pi

Convert to the Stans system or better yet, get his rims. I haven't had a flat in years. YEARS.

I'm not going to talk about my tubeless, because I don't want to jinx them.
But I fucking love them.

Are the tubes getting holes in the same place relative to the stem, or randomly around the circumference? Always Snakebite pattern, or some single hole?

even if he is running tubes, stick a UST style tire on the rear. more sidewall = less pinch flats. and more volume = better.
on the front its probably either a small hole in the tire, a burr on the inside of the rim, or a rim-strip that wandered and is exposing a spoke hole.
