EC ULLRFEST 2013!!!
First of all, many many thanks to our gracious host in years past Big Daddy for starting this invaluable EC tradition! As I'm sure you already know he could not host this year but thankfully Jim at Magic was down to let us use the big lot after the October volunteer work day. Going to be a little more basic than years past as there will be no projector, no movies and no stage... There WILL however be an ice luge (of course), a pig roasting, fire, pot luck dinner, booze out the ass, a fuckin' whole mountain and obviously shenanigans galore.
So yeah. Get stoked ladies and gents. The season of WIN is nearly upon us, it's time to show Ullr we aren't fucking around- and that we expect the same from him. Might as well start off by posting any awesome pics you have from years past and follow it up with a roll call and any ideas as to what you want to bring for food- also whether you're planning on attending the volunteer day. If you're looking to get down on the swine we need to get a head count as Peruvian is the master pig roaster and will be handling that- but we need a head count and $$ from everyone to make that happen obviously.
I'm pretty psyched we could carry this tradition on, so let's make the best of it. Obviously this is operating based on the agreement that we won't be asshat, shit-for-brains retards out there and we won't make Jim regret letting us do this. Please do your part to keep this a classy and fun event, we want this door to stay open!
Thanks guys!

well done keeping this going u guyz
i have an old (2004 era) digi pROGector and screen that i've got no use for that i'd consider donating to ULLRfests present and future if you think they'll be useful. (otherwise craigslist gets them)
the screen is about 10 feet across... and the projector is good enough for watching ski movies in the dark whilst drunk and full of pig...

There are always generators.
I'm predicting a Nor'easter that dumps 3 feet that Saturday night.

Hell yeah, I'll be there. I have a bunch of redwood (I think) 2X6s from a demolished deck...I'll start chopping them into bonfire lengths. The scrap pile is less than 1/2 mile from the site. I want in on the swine so let me know what my $$ share is. I'll see what I can do about getting some HT for the non-boozers.

I believe I will attend.
Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer but my introverted personality and marginal work ethic.
Fortunately, I don't eat swine...it's a filthy animal. It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Sueeeeeee......eet!
Can't wait. Will be fun attending as a guest and to have it at Magic. FTR, I can't take credit for starting this event, tho. That honor belongs to Snowsprite who hosted for the two years before me.
My snows are already on, so bring it Ullr!Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

Those were a couple of epic Ullr Fests that I am proud to say I was a part of. The event has grown exponentially since those days. This Ullr Fest at Magic is close to bringing it back to the roots I think... before outhouses, tables for eating upon, movies to watch and such. The original ski chair was built then, paving the way for the ski chair tradition. Fuck that was back when Nils was still feeling a little normal...before cancer took it's final toll. That's when Franny still went by Train07, ha! Those were the days.

Enjoy!! Wish we could be there but alas I'd say it's a bit hard to get there from AK for a weekend.

REALLY REALLY disappointed it is the same weekend as the work weekend. I have previous plans that weekend, as i know other east coast (and magic) maggots do as well. First one I'll be missing since I started going. Sad for me...but glad Magic is keeping the tradition alive.

I'm in. Will bring beer or booze or both. This is an odd year, so I expect I'll be passing out in a pile of my own shit, or a pile of something else equally undignified. I just hope Ullr appreciates my sacrifice.

Nope. I did the 70 mile Bart Center No Limits ride last weekend. The crew I roast with helped put on the local elementary school fundraiser at the West River Farmer's Market on Saturday though. BTW - Oct 12 is the last day for the market so be sure to swing over between 9-1 for some great local eats and goods.
I actually have a paid pig roast the night of Ullrfest, but I offered to put another pig in the roaster and deliver it to Magic before we head to the other gig. We are able to source the pigs from the new butcher in town, but I will need cash before I order it.
Big thanks to DoWork for putting this together. I hope we can swing back through after our gig and quench our thirst after slaving over a hot roaster all night and day!

Is the no projectors a directive from Jim, or just a consequence of not having a projector? If it's the latter, I might be able to help too.

how much does it cost to roast a pig so we can figure out what a fair contribution is for everyone.

We're not the only game in town, so it might have been another caterer.
The pig cost depends on size. I suggest about 1lb hanging weight per person. We don't generally roast pigs under 100lbs for most parties, but I think we could likely find something smaller if fewer folks are going to show up. At $2.50/lb I would think that $200 is a minimum to order a small pig. We'll roast it/deliver it for free.

Yeah really sorry to hear that the dates for Ullrfest and PJ's hitch are conflicting, that really does suck. I had no idea until MMP told me- Geoff picked the dates for the work days and everybody wanted to have the 'fest the same day for obvious reasons... Sucks though, wish you guys could be there
As for the projector, I think it might be a better idea to leave it home for now. It's by no means a request from Jim, but with this being the first year that Ullrfest's location is public, I desperately do not want this to turn into a ripper/shitshow/free-for-all. I say we keep it basic and back-to-roots for this year and if everything runs smoothly we can add things on for next year.
I mean maybe it would be good to have but I think erring on the side of caution and understatement might be a better idea for now? I love me some ski porn but I'm not sure. I just don't want to fuck this up, and I'm sure you guys understand my concern. I'm open for discussion though obviously.

Great to hear the tradition continues, doesn't look like we will make it up this time around due to conflicting schedules and timing our next trip up to VT. Praise Ullr!
