I'm looking for a cheap bike

My roommate is looking for a mountain bike. Nothing fancy, just something to get into trail riding. Preferably something around $300. We live in SC so you'd likely have to ship. If you have something sitting around, let me know. Thanks

Probably going to be better off on Craigslist at that price if you're in sc. Shipping will be way too much. Also check out pinkbike buy/sell in the nc and sc area.

Yeah, that's probably what he'll end up doing. That said, he'll pay for shipping so if someone is willing to go through the hassle of boxing it up, it could work out.

FWIW, your friend should be looking at hardtails. You can actually get into something decent at $300 in a used hardtail, whereas you're likely going to find total crap in a full-suspension design at that pricepoint, and riding a lousy FS bike for a while could well convince a newbie that he doesn't like mountain biking at all.
