Yeah, molcajete is a big old plate of food. A lot for 2.

El morelense has to be better. I'll try it tomorrow, thanks for the tips.

OK, El Morelense is legit. Al Pastor wasn't chewy or dried out small nuggets of pork, it was strips of pork that had some spice and taste to them, and the two green sauces at the bar were good. SO much better than El paisa! I'll be going there often, as it's 5 min from my new work place.

Might try mi carmelo this week too....why not? If not, next week.

If you like dodo's banana cream pie, it is worth driving up to Park City to try Auntie Em's. She is located in the Kimball Art Center on Kearns. IMHO, she makes the best BCP, strawberry rhubarb pie, blueberry lemon pie and bourbon pecan pie in UT. Definitely worth the trip

I'll second this endorsement. Auntie Em's makes a real good crust. Plus her husband is an avalanche instructor at AAI.

Glad you liked it. It's one of my favorites. I think I have been to mi carmelo. But need to go uh verify... I work out in that area too. We should start a weekly west side tgr taco tour.

Muted, I'm sorry. My neighbor at work, who never comes into the building, came into the building today, and wanted tacos on a tight time frame. So mi caramelo it was. He is fan of El morelense as well, and so we got Al pastor and carnitas tacos. They were quite good, and we'll be back. But the Al pastor was not as tasty as morelense. Don't get me wrong, quite good. Very good.

So, what have we learned this week? El morelense is closed on Mondays. Rancho markets can provide a good substitute if you find yourself in that situation. Mi caramelo is good as well, but even better, they are 2 for 1 tacos on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If you want to mix it up, you can go to Tay-do market and get a tasty banh-mi for $3.

I'm still down to get tacos tomorrow. Man has got to eat every day.

June pies in Heber. Best crust I've had in my life. Sorry grandma. You can thank me later. Kills anything in Park City.

works for me. Parking is kind of weird there, couple spots in front, and more to the west of the building. I'll be in a black bmw sedan.

Damn, we have a payday bbq at work otherwise i'd be there.

Carmelo vs. Morelense: definitely regional differences between the pastors. Both are fan-freakin-tastic, but I prefer the saltier, pineapple accompanied pastor of morelense, I also really fuckin love tostadas and the Morelense pastor tostadas are full on amazing.

Carmelo is fantastic. the mini vampiros of crispy, cheesy goodness are insane.

For you taco tour-ers, you can hit carmelo, morelense, then head to mi casa, off constitution, just past the voile factory. Another hidden gem over here.

Striped shirt, tan hat. VW white SUV with a north shore rack. I'll wait inside in the front if I park far away.

Caramelo al pastor tacos were good! So were the Vampiro versions. No pics of food but in the same parking lot is Wayne's Vee-Dub repair, who bought this MG replica from me years ago. I stopped by and he said he loves driving it, won't sell it, so it couldn't be in better hands. That car was bought by may parents 35? years ago, they will be psyched to see pics of it! Weird coincidence of locations.

Also there was a sweet paint job on a VW bus there...and checked out Basin's BMW. Tacos and cars, a good combo.

What if we call our first taco meetup Wednesday, August 7th? I'm time flexible but need to be back in midvale (work from home down here) for a 3PM meeting
