    River Stoke Thread

Sure there are plenty in the fishing forum and kayak and where ever else but not everyone gets in those places. Whatever, it's summertime. After spending a couple days on one it got me thinking of some of my favorites over the years.

Floating, tubing, paddling, ca-brewing, fishing, swimmin-holes, massive reservoir, what have you. What are your favorite ribbons of water of these summer days?

    Some of mine, (pics not)

Those are sweet looking places to swim/float. What kind of trees are those? They look kinda Cypress-y

Those are cypress trees and they are massive and always feel out of place compared to the brush/cedar country beyond the river. The San marcos is particularly nice to float because the springs that feed it keep the temperature nice and cool during the summer.

Casselman River in Southwest PA. Ran it Sunday about a foot lower than the picture. As a spring fed river it rarely runs this late in the year, so was nice to get on it in warm weather.

Cucumber falls a couple hundred yards from the lower Youghiogheny in Ohiopyle, PA. Gorgeous little ravine that, on the hottest of days, offers cool relief from the heat and awesome scenery.

Been there, and it's as gorgeous as your pic shows. Did all of our training hikes in Ohiopyle and Laurel Highlands before doing Philmont as an Eagle Scout. Great country there!

    ^^^ Sweet stuff!

Although I've never surfed it, I did enjoy hanging out in the River Isar in Englischer Garten in Munich. Drinking beers kept cold by the cold water and taking in the beauty of some nude sunbathing frauleins nearby. Not bad.

Fair enough, you're right. In my defense, the day I was hanging out in that river cell phone pics were the farthest thing from my mind. I'll do better next time I promise.

Yeah, knowing what is just over that edge gives me a little knot.
